Following up on this problem; I closed TMG unable to find anything helpful in "help". I opened TMG the next day and "lo and behold" the bold and italic font was gone and the normal font was back! Magic!!

Pete48 started following Changing List font
-
Hello, I have been using TMG for some time now and thought I could do with a change of font. (File, Preferences, Lists, List font.) I went through the list of fonts trying some and decided to go back to the original (Tahoma). Sadly it did not return to what I had expected. I now have the font showing in italic and bold. I cannot get back to normal font. Any ideas anyone?

Sometimes it's easier to find those you want to send, in which case the Focus Group method works well. But sometimes it's easier to define those you don't want to send. In that case, it's usually easier to set a flag for them, then use that flag in a filter in the Project Explorer, select everyone who is then in the PE, and use that for the export. To set the flag, you can use either the focus group, or a filter, and set the flag with the secondary output of the List of People report. If you think you may want to use the same group again, I think the Flag method is easier to maintain as you add new people to the data set. Add the flag to the Add Person screen, and set it correctly for each new person you add. The "file type" I recommend is a PDF, of a report that shows the people you want to send. That way nothing is lost. I don't merge files I receive from others, nor send the GEDCOMs, for the reasons stated in my Editorial. Everything is fine now, flags set and added to Add Person screen. Thank's for your help.

Pete, I'm not sure what do you mean here. You can easily set up these flags with the Secondary Output of the List of People report and a filter, which I think is what you mean. If you need help doing that, we can provide details. Hello Terry Yes please. I have set up custom flags for "Ancestors and Descendants Male" and "Ancestors and Descendants Female" with values of ?YN. What next? Pete Woops... Replied to soon. After a bit of thought I figured it out successfully, Thank you. Pete

Hi Michael,Thanks for your advise; I have tried several variations of focus groups with poor results. The theory seems simple but putting it into practice is proving harder than envisaged. I want to export my tree to a distant cousin, my tree includes branches that are not relevant to their family. Because I foresee having to do this periodically I thought the best way would be to include all individuals in the one group and then delete all members of another group that are made up of irrelevant family branches. Could you lead me through that process please? or is there an easier way? Also I realise that a GEDCOM file leaves a lot to be desired, what type of file would you suggest knowing that I they don't use TMG. Pete

You will need to set up two custom flags, one for AorD and Male and one for AorD and Female. Then you can set the accent colors based on those two flags. Unfortunately TMG only allows one compound based accent to the exclusion of all other accent possibilities. I think this is a flaw in the design of the program but I don't know what limitations FoxPro puts on that type of logic. It would be nice to set an accent for AorD and Male and another accent for AorD and Female at the same time without having to use custom flags. Mike Thank you Michael that seems to be working fine, pity all our Ancestors and Descendants can't be done at the same time. Pete

Hi I would like to create an accent condition that is "Is an Ancestor or Descendant and Male". Also, "Is an Ancestor or Descendant and Female". Thereby eliminating a conflict color when using the existing "SEX" and "Is an Ancestor or Descendant conditions". Can anyone advise please? Pete48

Hello, is there a way that a branch of the family tree can be concealed before exporting a GEDCOM file and then revealing it after? Regards Pete

Hi Virginia Terrific, that worked just fine. I'm still in learning mode with TMG and very impressed with the program. Thank you so much, Pete Hi, Pete - I moved your message to the v7 forum. To change the gender of the person who is the focus of the Details window, open the Flags window using the toolbar Flags icon (or the menu Window > Flags). Doubleclick on the SEX flag (or rightclick and 'Edit this flag') to change the gender. If you wanted to change the Father or Mother to another person already in the dataset, double click on Father or Mother at the top of the Details window and enter their ID# or select someone from the Picklist using the Binoculars button.
