  1. Does TMG plan to add this feature in the near future?

Since such a feature has never been requested and the current wishlist is very long, I would guess not.

How can one create a custom family timeline?

You create custom timelines using the Timeline Manager. I would start out by reading the Timeline Manager topic in help.

Is it possible for me to create a custom Family Timeline? If it is so simple that I could do, then wouldn't it be easier if TMG did it? We wouldn't want FTM to be one up on us would we?

  2. The timeline feature in FTM 2009, when selected to be visible, adds events just like TMG timelines do. The nice feature with the FTM Family Events Timeline is, when looking at the Person View, you can see how old the focus person was when other family events took place during their lifetime. For example, one can see that the focus person was a certain age when his son got married or when his father or mother died.

  3. When I attempt to preview either the Individual Narrative Report or the Individual Detail Report, I get the message that the templates cannot be found.

The Detail Report is missing template FG_LIP0505.RRW

The Narrative Report is missing template IN_LIP0505.RRW

I must have some essential files missing. How do I fix the problem?

CHECKING FURTHER, MOST OF THE REPORTS SAY THE SAME THING. I CAN ONLY GET A FEW REPORTS TO WORK WITHOUT AN ERROR MESSAGE!

    HELP!

  4. I have the same problems as well. In addition, clicking Web Search usually opens two instances of RootsWeb (both blank).

The first to come up is LDS FamilySearch. It searches with exact spelling on. It would be nice sometimes to have a choice before searching. Besides that, it doesn't come up with any positive results. I have used FamilySearch many times and found the same person that it can't find through TMG.

I had tried out Family Tree Maker 2009 and they seem to be well integrated with Ancestry.com. It works pretty slick and even has a merge feature that lets you select which tags you want to merge into your data.

Maybe TMG version 8 will improve in this area.
