That's in Preferences > Program Options > Other. Virginia -
What is your backup medium? Have you set the current backup path in Preferences > Current Project Options > Advanced? Which backup are you making - All, Customizations, or Project? If All or Customizations, do you get the same errors when using Project? I found a google-cached forum thread from several months ago with the same problem in earlier tmg versions. One message seems to suggest that the backup path may not have been valid. You might try a backup to an existing folder on your C drive and see if that works. http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:augnTL...&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 Virginia

TMGJIMBEV__.PJC does not appear to be a valid PJC file”
Virginia Blakelock replied to shampayne's topic in Older Products and Versions
Check that the current project path is correct in: Preferences > General > Default Project Path. Even if it is correct, browse to the project folder with the folder button and reselect it. You might also try resetting all your Preferences using the Reset button, then reenter the paths and other settings. Virginia -
TMGJIMBEV__.PJC does not appear to be a valid PJC file”
Virginia Blakelock replied to shampayne's topic in Older Products and Versions
Try going into Preferences > Program Options > Startup and Exit - and UNcheck Show Welcome window if it is checked. See if that makes a difference. Virginia -
"Open.." Window appears when switching person
Virginia Blakelock replied to iup's topic in Older Products and Versions
There was a similar problem in an earlier release. The solution then was to use the Reset button on the bottom left of the Preferences window to reset the defaults for Program and Project (Both), and close and reopen TMG. If you no longer get the error, you can reset your preferences and the problem should not return. Virginia -
See earlier report of this problem: http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index...wtopic=4154&hl= Virginia

The button is at the very top right of the forum window - in a line with Help, Search... - but it has not been activated since the forum hack and software upgrade a couple of months ago. Virginia

TMGJIMBEV__.PJC does not appear to be a valid PJC file”
Virginia Blakelock replied to shampayne's topic in Older Products and Versions
Jim, does it make a difference whether you open the project from within another project, that is from the list of last used projects at the bottom of the Edit menu - or from the Welcome window? Do you get the message both times? What about if you don't use the Welcome window (uncheck it in Preferences) and open the project directly? If the underlines are the ones that TMG inserts automatically when you make a project, the name may be OK. Virginia -
Alpha codes displayed in date field, Detail screen
Virginia Blakelock replied to Chet Barr's topic in Older Products and Versions
If this is the Details window, you can adjust the width of the Date column to show the full date. Grab the left hand bar at the top of the Name/Place column and move it to the right to widen the Date column. Virginia -
Trying to upgrade to Version 6.07
Virginia Blakelock replied to ejolesch's topic in Older Products and Versions
Elliot, I searched Google for 'tmg.exe is not a valid previous version' and found a cached copy of an earlier forum thread. It pertains to v5 but may apply to your problem as well. Note this is an old message, cached by Google, no longer on the forum. Ignore the top part of the screen about being a forum guest and look for the message at the bottom. http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:4MRGR...&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 If you decide to reinstall, you can download the full v6.07 from: http://www.whollygenes.com/downloadTMG6.html You will need to have your v6 registration information handy. As an extra precaution, you can move your Project folder outside of tmg before uninstalling. Virginia -
Individual Narrative Preview
Virginia Blakelock replied to JohnR's topic in Older Products and Versions
You might try resetting the report options using the Delete button on the report definition screen. Virginia -
The earlier problem was with the underscores appearing in narrative-type reports (Ind. Narrative, Journal..), and that appears to be still fixed in 6.07. I think they have always appeared, by design, in columnar-type reports like the FGS and Ind. Detail, (so the columns line up). Where are you seeing them? Virginia

HTML is not available for the Individual Detail Report. It is for the Individual Narrative. For more information and a list of the reports in which HTML can be implemented, See Help > Report Options: HTML. Virginia -
Is this a full prompt with yes/no to save the layout, or a small notice that the layout has been changed? Normally you would get the save layout prompt with yes/no only when you exit the program if you have selected that option in Preferences. If you are getting that prompt at other times, that sounds like something that should not be happening. If you are getting the little notice about your layout changing, you can choose to ignore that - if you are not really changing the layout, but only opening and closing a layout window like the Project Explorer. If you find you need to open and close a layout window frequently while working, you might consider making and saving a custom layout which includes the windows you will be using - and avoid that little nagging message about a layout change. Chartform
Virginia Blakelock replied to Derek Long's topic in Visual Chartform and Chartform Delivery
If you just need to download the file CTL3D.DLL and don't get the messages in Robin's link above, you can find more information and the download in this message: http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index...ctl3d\.dll Virginia -
Peter, I had a problem with error messages when Adding a husband, wife, or spouse, often to a new person in the data set. The message was different from yours and I could not use Ignore but had to Abort. In case the cause of our problems is the same, here is the fix I found: Go to Preferences, Program Options, Prompts. Uncheck all prompts and then recheck all prompts. Close TMG and reopen. That fixed the problem for me and it stayed fixed after I went back into preferences and unchecked the prompts I did not want. If that does not help, you need to give step by step details of the process as Jim suggested. Virginia

Is there any more to that message? There should be a copy in the file error.txt in your tmg main folder. Does it seem to appear with a particular Add Person - like adding a wife or husband? Do you use name styles? Virginia
-
Hi, Lorna It's rare that someone beats you to finding a bug, but that came up on tmg-l last night, has been reported, and should be fixed in the next upgrade. It applies to all name and relationship tags. As you found, if you click Ignore you can continue. Do not click Abort! Thanks - Virginia

File Management between computers
Virginia Blakelock replied to lyndacjones's topic in Older Products and Versions
If you use Copy Project, note that it does not copy filter or accent files (with the exception of Flag accents) in the project. Backup Project has an option in Step 3 to include those files. Virginia -

Virginia Blakelock replied to lyndacjones's topic in Older Products and Versions
Gary, if you want to COPY the project files, it may help to read the abstract of TMG's file structure at: http://www.tmgtips.com/dbnames2.htm Since each project contains over 80 files (including the *.pjc file which is a text file with project settings), many of us keep each project in a separate folder to facilitate copying. I also keep my project folders outside of TMG (as I keep all data separate from program software). Not necessary but better housekeeping for me and easier to find, backup, or move. Virginia -
Thanks for the clue re using the shortcut. That may be helpful. I ran a second test, reinstalling 6.04 and doing a fresh upgrade to .05 and did not get the problem. So both a full install of 6.05 and also a fresh upgrade from .04 to .05 fixed it for me. Maybe the fact you are both using the UK version is making a difference. Virginia
-
You might try uninstalling using the Control Panel and then reinstall in Safe Mode using your same download file. Maybe there was a glitch during the install process. Virginia
-
I used the trial version (tmg6setup), non UK. Maybe we will learn more about the problem today and a possible solution for you. Virginia

Exhibit Log in Master Place List
Virginia Blakelock replied to wrichards's topic in Older Products and Versions
Same problem, but I am also able to close with the X. Virginia -
I see the same problem when adding any tag other than Name or Relationship. Ignore allows me to continue. The problem has been reported to the developers. So far I haven't seen any consequences to the message besides the annoyance, and I don't know of any fix at this point. If any more information becomes available, I expect it will be posted here. More.... A solution: I uninstalled my upgraded v6.05 and reinstalled the full version using the free trial downloaded from the Wholly Genes web site. I do NOT have the problem using the full version. If you go this route, you will have to re-enter your v6 registration information. If you do not have this handy, you can get it from your existing v6.05 before you uninstall it. The easy way to get a copy is to run a trouble report in Help > Tech Support. If you save that file, you can Copy and Paste the registration number from there. Virginia
