Why using the same criteria - e.g. Given name, surname, birth date - the Project Explorer and the Simple Picklist display names in a different way ? The Simple Picklist always displays the surname first, even when sorting as above mentioned. Is this intentional ?

I added a few exhibit images to persons and events. While the image window shows the thumbnails of the first, the image associated with events does not show. Looking for information on that matter I read that it must be marked as primary to show. But how do I do that? The respective button is dimmed! Any help would be appreciated.

I am still finding my way around TMG, with much more questions than answers… I imported my database (+/- 5000 individuals) using .ged format, and I 'm now dealing with the problem of putting my sources right, but I cannot find much help. My basic question is as simple as this: How do I add a source reference to a Birth Tag? Can you recommend a "source" where I could learn something about how Sources and Repositories are treated within TMG ?

Thank you, Michael Hannah and Terry Reigel. Your help has been very important, it was exactly what I needed. Basic concepts like Repositories, Sources and Citations are the key information I missed when I tried to understand this mechanics. The fact that after the import of the initial .ged file I had a Master Source List filled with 770 entries of "junk" didn't help much! Those entries were after all replicas of some duplicate? fields. The point is that I could delete all that without losing information, and begin rearranging the sources knowing what I'm doing.

I couldn't drag the line, because even with the Details window maximized, and after setting my display at max resolution, that line was not visible. However your input led me to try changing the layout back to standard, and bingo! There it was. After that is was just a matter of redoing my preferred layout taking care to maintain that info visible. Thank you Virginia.

Exactly the same thing happens here. I am a new user - less than 2 months - of TMG, and still learning, so today I took a little time to investigate the purpose of that box because I've never seen any values on it, and I'm certain they are not hidden. However the help section was not of great help. Browsing this forum I came across a topic with examples of various layouts posted by members, and I noticed that some of them had intesting values displayed on that small box. I now have a more or less vague ideia of the purpose of the box, but never seen any values. Is there any less obvious way to switch that info on or off besides "Customize other info" ? Enabling or disabling the labels returns exactly the same result, and sometimes the error reported above. Am I doing something wrong ? Any help would be appreciated!

I am a new user of TMG, and very happy with it. However I would like to suggest something that I used on my former program, and I miss a lot. The Details Window (tree view) only allows navigation in one direction. Going in the descendents direction would be very useful but is not possible.
