You are welcome. I believe the intent of marking sources inactive is to remove them from the less view, I don't think it serves any other purpose.

Jason Are you viewing the Master Source List in 'More' mode? Perhaps the invisible sources have been marked inactive, which hides them when viewing the MSL in 'Less' mode.

Exhibit - many persons in one image
ggilbert1 replied to Jesper Beenfeldt Nielsen's topic in Older Products and Versions
I made a Group Photo tag by copying the History tag. History group tags don't have principals, just witnesses, then I attach everybody in the photo as a witness. See the thread on Image help on Rootsweb TMG-L I posted to today for more info. -
I agree with Teresa, I think I'd make a Name-Var Latin tag. Then you can include it in reports and use the latin name where appropriate. Also when you see the tag on the person view you know you have already done the translation.

I just noticed this behavior with the Image Viewer, and wondering if this is a bug or a feature? Census image downloaded from Ancestry.com as a .jpg file size 808Kb. Attach as an external exhibit to source. View exhibit using integrated image viewer. Check file size in folder – file is now 2,401Kb If this is a feature is there a way to turn it off? If this is a bug it needs to be fixed. My work around is to set the image files as Read Only. Which may result in TMG complaining as follows: OLE Idispatch exception code 0 from ltocx13n: LEAD Error: Not able to open file.. 0 IMAGEVIEWER.MOK [ABORT] [RETRY] [iGNORE] When attempting to close the image viewer. Ignore permits viewer to close.

I'd add a Name-Var tag, then set the one you consider correct as primary.

VCF Stand-alone?
ggilbert1 replied to mikewstalbans's topic in Visual Chartform and Chartform Delivery
I think you can 'export' a VFC chart to .jpg ... just checked, yes on the File Menu > Export you have the choice of .jpg, .bmp, and .emf -
Hmm! If sent a Second Site CD off to WhollyGenes for reproduction, and got 100 copies back with even a couple if census images orientated sideways I would not be a happy camper.
-
IMHO the Image Viewer should simply display the image, even if I manipulate it. Say I rotate a census image to read the street, the rotation becomes permanent when I close the view I don't want TMG 'editing' my images, at least not without my permission.

Thanks FYI I did a little more testing and it looks like .png files get a little boost in file size too 664Kb before viewing 845Kb after viewing .gif does not appear to be effected. Also .tiff files from HeritageQuest Online do not appear to be effected.

Alternatives to SecondSite for web presentation of TMG data?
ggilbert1 replied to Helge Haugland's topic in Older Products and Versions
I'd like have this too. I'd be willing to purchase AND beta test. My hosting package includes, 3 MySQL dbs, Pearl/CGI bin, PHP 4.xx, and SSI all lying fallow. -
Did we loose the spell check with implementation of the new editor? Or am I missing something somewhere? Where or where has spell check gone? Where or where can it be?

Printing to PDF: Landscape format
ggilbert1 replied to John Stark's topic in Older Products and Versions
On the Report Definition dialog box in the Print to: frame FIRST change output to something OTHER than Acrobat PDF (screen for example) then click the Properties button, and set the orientation to Landscape THEN set the output to Acrobat PDF finally Print & Save In Adobe Reader (7.0.8) you have to select either Auto-rotate and Center OR Choose Paper Source by PDF page size to print Landscape. -

Adding my support to this. Other programs are capable of retaining the last path accessed. -
How to enter a name as a third
ggilbert1 replied to ken franklin's topic in Older Products and Versions
Instead of entering it with the surname, enter it in the suffix field. See Help > Data Entry > Names Suffix Suffixes like Jr., Sr., Ph.D., may appear here. Wholly Genes, Inc. -
Never mind - I see you figured it out Report Options > Places tab > Use selected place fields > de-select [L2] Detail [L8] Phone and any other place field you want to remove from the report.
-
Try the TMG Utility People > Select DNA Descendants You can use it to set a flag.
-
I use the Repository Reference field > Attachments >Repository Link Entry Screen. If paper I enter my document number, if electronic the file name. Square brackets are used as source element delimiters, so you'd have to make the square brackets part of the data (enter them in the Reference field) if you want them to print. I'm not sure if that would be good practice, perhaps parentheses would be a better choice.

Wishlist: Report capability for Open Office formats
ggilbert1 replied to Linda Reinfeld's topic in Older Products and Versions
I too would like to see TMG add support for Open Office, and XML type output in general.
