  1. Setup is already running

You may have this solved by now, but if not try running the installer as administrator. By this I mean right click and choose run as administrator from context menu. DO NOT allow the installer to run TMG at the end of the install process. Reboot Windows, right click TMG and again choose run as administrator, enter your unlock data but do nothing else, quit TMG and reboot windows. From now on run TMG normally.
  2. Moving TMG to Windows 10 under Parallels

I upgraded my VM to Windows 10 without any problems, however today is the last opportunity for those who have not already upgraded to get it done.
  3. Upgrading questions

I have not upgraded to Windows 10 yet, but I think you are on the right track as well. You might want to look at Parallels KB article "How to upgrade my virtual machine to Windows 10?" http://kb.parallels.com/en/122884 There is also an article on the Parallels Blog you might want to review, it covers both a fresh (clean) install of Windows 10 as well as upgrading. How to Install Windows 10 in Parallels Desktop 11 http://blog.parallels.com/2015/11/03/windows-10-in-parallels-desktop-11/ OS X 10.11.4 Parallels 11.2.0 (32581) Windows 8.1 Pro TMG 9.05 SS 6.1 Build 02
  4. Have you tried sending a screen preview report to the Print to PDF (Mac Desktop) printer? You'll get a file on your Mac Desktop named: Windows 8.1 printed document.pdf which you can rename, also you should be able to print this file from the Mac without involving TMG or Windows. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) OS X: 10.11.3 Parallels: Version 11.1.2 (32408) Windows 8.1 Fully Updated TMG 9.05
  5. As others have mentioned the only way to run TMG is in a Windows operating system. You didn't mention if you had a TMG backup .sqz file or not. If you did perhaps someone locally would be willing to do a restore and create a GEDCOM for you. If you only need to use TMG long enough to get your data out in the form of a GEDCOM and you can't find a local TMG user willing to help you, you can use Boot Camp to create a partition on your Mac drive, that will make your system dual boot and enable you install Windows XP & TMG 6, be sure to put a copy of the GEDCOM on the external drive, then when done you can delete the Boot Camp partition. You've been without TMG since 2008 and it doesn't sound like you want the hassle of two operating systems so I wouldn't recommend the virtual machine route. The only reason I'm using a Parallels Virtual Machine and Windows is to use TMG, TMG Utility, SecondSite and one other Windows program. There is some decent Mac genalogy software, Reunion, does a good job of importing a TMG GEDCOM, see http://gilbert-genealogy.info/otherwebs.html for my experiences with importing. Mac FamilyTree looks like a good program, and there is a Mac version of Family Tree Maker. I'm writing this on my iPad, my MacBook is off for the night so I can't look, but I believe you'll find Boot Camp in the Mac Disk Utilities.
  6. I have not done it, but I believe it should simply upgrade the operating system like an upgrade to Win 10 would do on a PC.
  7. If you attempt to upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 working inside the virtual machine you will receive this notice: "Windows 10 will not run on this PC" error due to the issue with Parallels Display Adapter (WDDM) See the Parallels Knowledge Base article with the same title http://kb.parallels.com/en/123053 The KB article goes on to give instructions on how to proceed. P11 includes a Windows 10 upgrade wizard to get you started in the process. There is a link in the wizard that takes you to the Win 10 installation file download, the other link in the wizard takes you to another KB article How to upgrade my virtual machine to Windows 10? http://kb.parallels.com/122884 If you have the latest build of Parallels 10 (10.2.2-29105) you can upgrade to Win 10 by following the steps in either KB article so upgrading to P11 isn't necessary. P11 is ready for OS X El Capitan has performance improvements and support for MS Cortana http://www.parallels.com/news/parallels-desktop-11-aug-19-2015/ The free upgrade to Win 10 from Win 7/8 will be available until the end of July 2016, so there is time. I have not heard from anyone running TMG in a virtual machine that has upgraded to Win 10. FWIW I have a friend that has a fairly recent Dell computer he gets a similar warning from the Win 10 upgrade ... drivers are not compatible, he contacted Microsoft Support and was told that they are "working on updating drivers, they will be available later, then you'll be able to upgrade." Does that mean the Win 10 upgrade is still a work in progress or did MS support just blow him off? Only time will tell.
  8. I upgraded to Parallels 11 but I'm still using Win 8.1, even with P11 the Windows 10 upgrade advisor will tell you the VM's graphics device is not compatible, however there is an Upgrade to Windows 10 button on the P11Action Menu, which starts a upgrade wizard... I'm in no rush to get Win 10, the only Windows programs I use are TMG, TMG Utility, SecondSite, and a program that converts .csv files to HTML.
  9. TMG 9/Parallels 10/ Yosemite - losing focus

I usually use Coherence view mode, when I leave Coherence I'm in Window view mode so that may explain why I've never experienced the focus issue.
  10. Sorry that didn't work. Since printing from other programs works it's strictly a TMG porblem, at least you can get printed output with the work around.
  11. I believe replacing the .dll file is the expected action. If you really need to print directly from TMG another attempt at a clean install may be the way to go. From the post in which you describe uninstalling and deleting folders it's not clear that you deleted the two TMG9 folders in ProgramData as described in the Jim Byram's post on doing a clean install http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?/topic/15915-tmg9-final-installers/?p=66002 BTW The post above the clean install instructions gives the links to download the install file should you need it. I would add after you uninstall and remove the folders reboot the Virtual Machine. After restarting run tmg9setup.exe as administrator by right clicking and choosing Run as administrator from the context menu. At the end of the installation process UNCHECK the option to open/run TMG we don't want TMG to run at this point. Reboot the VM again. After the restart Right Click the TMG desktop icon and again choose Run as administrator from the context menu, if prompted enter your unlock information do nothing else but that, exit TMG, if not prompted to unlock do nothing, exit TMG. Reboot the VM again, after the restart run TMG normally. No guarantee any of this will return print function to TMG but I'm out of other ideas.
  12. Roots Magic does offer chart printing https://www.rootsmagic.com/Wallcharts/
  13. I have not reviewed this for a few years therefore IT IS OUT OF DATE but it will give you some idea of what's involved in producing a large chart in PDF format. Printing Large Charts to PDF http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?/topic/14684-printing-large-charts-to-pdf/&do=findComment&comment=59391
  14. The post before setting the port to null describes removing & reinstalling the WG Printer check the section below in a few cases you may need to clean up... http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?/topic/14260-tmg-v8-tips/?p=57483 This won't solve the printing problem in TMG, but since you can print from other applications a work around would be to save the FGS report as a word.doc, you could then open and print with Word or Pages, or save it as .rtf and open and print with TextEdit.
  15. I see this issue reported in the TMG 8 Forum http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?/topic/16075-problem-previewing-report-on-screen/?hl=0x80040154 I'd recommend running the installer as administrator, right click on tmg9setup.exe and choose run as administrator Also see this post to check that the Wholly Genes PDF Writer v4 is set to the null port http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?/topic/14260-tmg-v8-tips/?p=57963
