  1. Font Size in Tree View

Looking at this more, what I really need to be able to do is adjust the number of generations in the window. Now that stays constant. Can that adjustment be done?
  2. Font Size in Tree View

Thanks, although I would have thought the box size would reduce along with the font so that more boxes could be on the screen. Is that also controlled, somewhere else?
  3. How does one reduce the font size showing in the boxes of the tree view? Ken
  4. Exporting to other formats

I applaud TMG for the bridge. As to the difference in reading or writing the file format of another program, I see little. In either case you must know there format. However the one difference which may be germane is the active versus passive relationship the other program has to that file. It is conceivable that by erroneously writing the other file's format you could create a "not tested case" problem for the other company for which they do not want to take responsibility. However, I think that could be resolved with a super gedcom format eliminating the problems of the current gedcom. The fact that this has not yet been done is telling.
  5. Exporting to other formats

Read and interpret I understand, but to allow use and import into another program but deny export I find puzzling. Actually there are very few to my knowledge that even import other program formats. I first saw this with TMG. Perhaps it is more the issue of risk to the other program. I also wonder how badly the Gen program owners want to see it easy to exchange data. Ken
  6. Exporting to other formats

If you can import from their formats which MG does, does this require an agreement. If so then why couldn't an agreement be reached to export to their format? If importing does not require an agreement, then why is there a concern on export? Ken
  7. Forum registration

I was forced to know my username in order to change a password so i believe I was stuck with 8-5 Monday through Friday. Most places allow electronic notification anytime based on secret questions. Ken
  8. Forum registration

Normally if I forget a username and, or a password I can apply for a password change. I found that I could not find a way to do that on this forum. Further, when i tried to reregister a username and password, it would not let me because I already had the forgotten username and password registered with the email address given. The only way i could get on to the forum was by using my second email address to register again. Did i miss a better way? Ken
  9. I brought this up before but it was not apparently appreciated at the time. Now my daughter is complaining about the same problem. In the tree view it would be especially convenient to put a left-facing arrow to the left of the focus person so that if you wish to browse the tree in EITHER direction rather than just to the right, then you could. Now, you have to do it by clicking in the CHILD window to , in effect, select the new focus to the tree's left. But, if you are not changing the tree contents then this is inconvenient because as you select through the CHILD window you have to remember the relationship structure in the left direction. The Program Family Origins does it the way I am suggesting. I used that for years and that approach is so much more convenient. Of course, if one wants to scroll to the left and choose the CHILD path on the way then they can do that in the current manner. Simply to put that left arrow on the screen would allow such convenience when scrolling back and forth in the tree when relationship changes in the tree are not intended while scrolling. Ken
  10. New to MG. For some reason I expected to be able to export to other genealogy program formats such as paf. This is obviously convenient if one wants to communicate with others without the drawbacks of gedcom. Am I missing something and is there a way to do it? Ken
