Hi I tried the whole process again from scratch and the setting was 0, I changed it up to 150 and all is OK now. Its very strange that the setting was showing that it was OK but not actually working. I had even tried restarting the machine and had the same effect. For future users, I disabled all settings so that they showed 0, then edited through the app.ini file, which made it all work! Looks like my settings are OK but its still not there? I'm using v6.12. This is strange. Its the column mode that it is not showing the person in. The vent list mode is fine. Anything else to try? I've tried finding the drag arrow but it does not appear, even moving the mouse very very slowly hoping to pick it up, I'm in column mode. When in the events lists the people column is there. Any other ideas how to show my person column in event mode? Thanks

Hi Thats where I am trying to click to expand. But I end up grabbing the edge of the whole window and making that wider and still not showing the person column. I'll try again tonight and move the mouse very very slowly. I did an ungrade from v6.9 to v6.12 and it may have happened when I did the upgrade for some reason. Thanks for your help. We'll get there in the end.

I don't have the scroll bars at the bottom neither can I get the arrow to drag to the right to show the persons name (it just drags the current boxes wider). The box is definately checked also to show the persons name but its still not showing. Any other ideas? I can't work at the moment! Thanks

I have created a custom language called English2 which is my default language. I have deleted all other languages such as Norweigian, etc and only have 2 languagues in TMG called English (template) and English 2. However when i click on 'Tag Type List' and select some of my tags, some other languaes appear, such as Norweigian, etc. Is there any way of deleting these others somehow and refering to the default language? I suspect that at some time they have been accidently selected (or may be in use in error). Also I would like to change to "place style" globally from the default style to a "custom style" which has already been created, is this possible?

Has anyone worked out a way to delete a language that is greyed out, as the delete option is not selectable? Shaun

Personally I'm quite happy with V6, and would rather have amendments to V6 than a whole new version. Take windows bringing out a new version every 2 years or so, it becomes a bit of a pain as you feel you always need to have the latest one, which brings more expense and then ultimately a new PC! Very frustrating. Shaun

I would like the image window to show all the images/exhibits that I have for that person, ideally as a slide show, while I'm working in TMG. Can this be done? Currently it only shows my primary image which is good but i would like it to do more. I attach certificates to events so I could then see which ones i have not attached yet. Thanks

I attach exhibits so that when an event, say a census record is shown on SS, people can view the original census record. I use it for certificates rather than just photo's

You could use a flag, then set an accent to show then in a different colour. That way they remain in the same data set. If you do a search for data set, you will probably see some posts saying keep all info in 1 data set. I used to have 4 data sets for different branches of the same family, but i have now moved them into 1 data set with flags and accents, which is easier.

I have attached exhibits with my sources. However the exhibits are not showing at the end of the Citation in SS. The settings under SS are shown to link for all exhibit types. I used to have the setting correctly previously. Any ideas what have I altered? Thanks

Hi, I've been playing and trying numerous options but can not seem to get the result that I would like. I have lots of Certificates that I want to attach as exhibits. I would like to call this source say Joe Bloggs BC and attach the exhibit once to this source. Then when ever the source is used there is an immediate like to the exhibit. When I create my SS pages, I only like to show citations (or would like only the sources without the citations to show if I could). However as you correctly point out John the photos are not attached to the citations, as I have attached them to the sources. Obviously I want to only attach the exhibit once and then it appears numerous times. Am I missing something and trying to achieve something that I can't? What is the best way to do this? Thanks

I have some roles set up with my death tags, called father, mother, child, etc. to show the relationship of the person listed on the DC. I now believe that i need to merge the roles, of mother and father to be the role of parent, so that I can have better sentenace structures. Can you merge roles together? I also will need to merge roles for census records, to be more in line with Terry's roles of with parents, etc. Thanks

So are we saying that there is no way of knowing what exhibits have not been used/attached to a tag.? I am about to attach all of my exhibits and looks like I will copy them all, and attach the copy to TMG, so that I always have the original still. However it means will have less memory space on PC. Thanks

I have the same problem, can you create this type of variable?

I use simple roles, such as 1st Bride, 2nd Bride, 1st Groom, 2nd Groom as Terry suggests. It works fine for me.

How do people save their exhibits, internally or externally. Do you copy the files and have a special folder called TMG exhibits, so you know what ones are attached? Obviously this will take up more memory space and have duplicate files, etc..

You could use memo 1, memo 2, etc. M1, M2. Then pick which part of the memo to use in the sentance. ie M1 is text that you will use in a sentence, and M2 is other info that you want to record but not print. Of course you will need to adjust the sentence structure to accomodate.

I use flag values such as Yes, No, Unavailable for Birth & Death Events, so I know that there are no records around when it states Unavavilable. I also use Birth Alternative (a custom tag) when i find a dodgy/wrong date.

I have scanned lots of Birth Certificates. I want to attach them as an exhibit. As far as I can see there are 2 possible places to put the source with the exhibit attached. 1a) The birth event itself. 2a) Create a source called 'Birth Certificate of Joe Bloggs' and attach the source to all of the events where the information is used. I can see the following problems. 1a) As the BC also contains information like the occupation of father, the exhibit will need to be attached to the birth tag, the occupation tag, etc. This means attaching the exhibit to lots of tags. 2a) I will then have lots of sources, ie 1 source for every certificate i have which may become cumbersome. However it does mean only 1 source for each certificate. How does everyone else attach exhibits as sources? Thanks, Shaun

SS works fine for me. It contains every piece of data in TMG for me anyway. I've uploaded SS data to my website, added a search engine, heh presto! All data searchable. Can't see that SS would not work for you on a flash drive.
