  1. Error when adding a new tag type.
I had this error a few years ago and couldn't fix it. It comes when adding a new tag type by copying another. It doesn't matter which tag type is copied I get the same error.
To get around the issue you have to force a 'crash' in TMG then restart, then delete, but you don't have the new tag created.
I'm then unable to add a new tag type. Any ideas for a fix?
    Thanks

  2. I'm currently upgrading from v7 to v9, once it's working I plan to print in hard copy the descendant chart for my ONS. It's a thin tall chart as it only follows the male line more or less. Can anyone export a working version of their chart formatting that I can import and use in my TMG. I only want to show name and BMD information. If I can get it as a PDF I can take to the printers here in Australia. The printing companies in USA work out expensive because of the exchange rate and postage. Thanks.

  3. I hope sooner than later.

    Rougly how long is sooner...

Only Bob Velke can answer that question, and believe me- he won't.

WG never makes announcements about possible, probabale, or planned release dates.

I understand that they do not want to make an official statement, but do any users have an opinion on this? This year, next year...?

I obviously need to change over from TMG 6 but do not want to do 2 upgrades near each other

    Thanks

  4. I have the same problem in that I use TMG V6 and now have a new PC with Windows 7 which I want to transfer all my information to. From what I am reading TMG V6 does not work propoerly with Windows 7, is that correct? If it does not then I am happy to upgrade but will upgrade to TMG V8, however when will that be coming out as I do not want to do 2 upgrades (to TMG V7 then TMG V8).

    Thanks

  5. It's not clear what sort of magic bullet you are looking for.

You recover data from program backups or from system backups. Hopefully, you have such backups that are not on your hard drive and are stored on some type of more permanent media such as CDs or DVDs.

My back ups (of all of my files not just TMG) are on CD, I've checked them all but they are not on the CD's which is frustrating. Perhaps I added them to TMG and then deleted straight away without realising??? It was some time ago I added the photo's.

    Thanks

    Shaun

  6. Shaun,

Man! Users who are very happy with the old version are so frustrating! <g>

Seriously, thanks for providing your email address. I will send you the URL you need in a reply to that message. If you are currently using v1.9.9, and you are using a custom Theme or Format, make sure you review the Change Log entries for v1.9.13.

There are a lot of compelling features in SS2. It does take a little effort to upgrade if you want your site to look the same as it does in SS1. Personally, I don't think that's the right goal. The changes in SS2 make it easy to build sites that are more up-to-date with respect to current site design standards and conventions compared to SS1. SS1 was first released in 2002 and a lot has changed since then. While I updated the program regularly between 2002 and 2007, I needed to replace it with a new version to (A) apply what I learned from watching people use SS1 to build sites, (B) take advantage of new web technologies and better standards adoption by browser suppliers.

If you need/want advice about how to upgrade, let me know. There is some helpful information in the newsletter that announced the release of SS2, including a FAQ section for SS1 users. Also, check out the SS2 example site.

Thanks, it does look good and I like the format and layout of the new example. I'll review 'when to make the plunge'

    Thanks, Shaun

  7. If you contact me off-forum I will tell you how to upgrade to SS v1.9.16.

Is there any particular reason you do not want to upgrade to SS2? SS2 is compatible with TMG v6 and TMG v7.

The only reason I do not want to upgrade is that I am very happy with SS1 (it produces exactly what I want) and also do not want to try to learn the new features, etc. of SS2 as I don't have the time at the moment.

I suspect that now I'll go and see what the new features are I'll want to upgrade!

    Regards, Shaun

  8. Hi

I tried the whole process again from scratch and the setting was 0, I changed it up to 150 and all is OK now. Its very strange that the setting was showing that it was OK but not actually working. I had even tried restarting the machine and had the same effect. For future users, I disabled all settings so that they showed 0, then edited through the app.ini file, which made it all work!

    Thanks for all your help.

    Shaun
