I am a new user to the UK Silver Edition and am trying to understand sources. Although I feel I understand them some confusion exists. For example I have about 600 people in my file. Each one of these can have a source for birth, marriage and death/burial information as well as 1841/51/61/71/81/91 census information. For each of these entries I could add a source making a Master Source list of probably over 3,000 entries, this can't be right ! Is the intention to add a single source such as a particular church baptism register and then call up this source every time a baptism for that church is entered ? Same goes for the census, just call up one source for the 1851 say, and then use this one source for every 1851 entry ?

Master Source List

Jeff, Thanks for the reply. It looks as though I'm going to be a small group lumper ! This seems to be a better way to get a handle on the master source list and keep the number of entries to a sensible level. -

I've just started to use TMG (UK Silver Edition) and after importing a GEDCOM file from another program I find that I cannot edit the memo field in tag boxes. This information has been imported from the old program and when I try to delete some information it appears to be deleted in the tag box memo field but if I then close the tag box and reopen it the original informationis there and the deletions have had no effect. How do you edit memo fields in tag boxes ?

Editing Memo Fields

Thanks for that Les, it works fine. I don't know how I didn't figure that out for myself ! I've another query that you might know the answer to. Is there a global way of altering tag names ? i.e. I want to change "christning" to "baptism". I can do it on an individual person basis but it is slow going. I've tried the help menu but can't find an answer. -
