Can't Upload Files

Recommended Posts

I'm going crazy. I've used TMG since it first came out and I've never had this problem before. Most of my problems started back when I upgraded to TMG v6 so I kept using my older version while I was writing a book. The book is finished and I'm ready to start another project but ... the project file I need to use is outdated.

No problem, right? I teach genealogy so I have various programs on the computer so I can help others with their files. As a result, I found an updated copy in my Ancestral Quest file so I figured I'd just translate it to TMG. I can't get TMG to do it.

I've tried gedcoms

  • straight from AQ
  • translated AQ to PAF5

TMG tells me that it can't input the gedcoms (either version).

I attempted using genbridge with PAF5 but after 4 hours it was only 1/4 of the way through the conversion. Something is obviously wrong.

I tried to use my earlier version and I can't get its' input option to work at all! It doesn't acknowledge that it even exists.

Any clues? I've tried this for 4 days now and I'm all out of tricks. Thanks Mary Ann

It took almost 6 hours and making sure everything on this computer was disabled (screensavers, hibernate, sleep, etc.) but I finally got the information translated over from PAF5.

Now I have a new problem - at least one line has looped itself into eternity (the computer has assigned a son as the parent so it goes on and on and on).

Anyone know an easy way to unlink a child from parents?

A child is linked to his or her parents by the Parent/child Relationship tags. They appear in the Child's person view as the two lines just under the child's name. To unlink, just delete those two tags. To do that, click on the Father tag, and press the Delete key or click the [ - ] button on the toolbar. Do the same for the Mother tag.
