Philip Colmer 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 I've created a chart and there are a couple of places where the report states "+unknown spouse" where it shouldn't be. There isn't such a person in the data. TMG 7.03 UK edition, Vista 32-bit. --Philip
Virginia Blakelock 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 Check the surety settings in the report options. Both 'No Threshold' and 'Include blank surety' should be ticked in order to include everyone. Virginia
Philip Colmer 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 Virginia Thank you for this suggestion. Unfortunately, I think you've misunderstood me. It isn't that the chart is failing to include everyone - the problem is that it is including "unknown spouse" where no such person exists in my data. I don't know why it thinks that these additional spouses exist. I don't know if it is a bug in the report or a problem with my database. --Philip
Virginia Blakelock 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 The usual cause of 'unknown spouse' in a report is the surety setting. Did you try those settings and still get the problem? Is this a descendant indented chart? Virginia
Philip Colmer 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 Yes, I've tried the settings you specified and I'm still getting the problem. Yes, it is the decendant indented chart. Thanks. --Philip
Virginia Blakelock 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 Sounds like it could be this - from the TMG mailing list archives: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/r...7-12/1196965950 Virginia
Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 Philip, As the thread Virginia referred you to suggests, most likely the "bug" is not in the chart but in your data. The "unknown" spouse, if not caused by the surity setting, is most likely causes by a missing parent for one or more of the children. The parent may be entered in the data, but if there is no parent/child tag connecting them it doesn't matter - the parent is still unknown so far as that child is concerned.
