tkintner 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Several of us aged types have significant others, those with whom we live, but are not married to. In my case I'm even called "grampa"! How do we enter these relationships without entering "married", especially since they are not biological or adopted. Tom
Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 How do you want the results to appear in reports and websites? What kind of reports? If you want the relationship to appear in family group sheets, pedigrees, descendant charts, and box charts, you need to use a tag in the Marriage group. You can use a custom tag type called something other than Married if you want, but for these types of charts you won't be able to tell the difference (except for the FGS, where it will still show "Spouse" but then tag itself will appear with your label). If you want the relationship to appear in narratives you can use a custom tag type in the Other Events group (or even a standard Tag type like Note) to report the nature of the relationship. But if you want the relationship to appear spouse-line in the Journal you will need a tag in the Marriage group.
Helmut Leininger 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Tom, I created a new element type "Partnership" derived from marriage with modified sentences. I don't know if this is the best way but it fits to my needs.
Virginia Blakelock 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 There are a number of threads with a variety of suggestions on this subject in the TMG-L archives here. Enter "significant other" (include the quotation marks) in the Body field of the search. Virginia
