dsmer 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 When I try to do a web search to FamilySearch.org I am now getting a 404 error, since the web site has changed. Is there any place I can change the URL to point correctly? Or will it be changed in a new release?
Virginia Blakelock 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 You can edit the url (using Notepad or another text editor) in the webother.txt file in your user program data folder. For the location of that folder, see Help / Access Folders on the top menu in TMG. In Access Folders, rightclick on the location to copy the folder path to the clipboard for pasting into Windows Explorer. Virginia
dsmer 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2012 Thank you for the reply, but I don't think that this is enough. I have already changed that address using the menu option in TMG. But that seems to refer to the list of other web sites, not the built-in web search. The familysearch web site seems to do a redirect from http://www.familysearch.org to the new https:// address and the Web Search string then becomes: https://familysearch.org/Search/ancestorsearchresults.asp?last_name=... But this does not work: Oops We can't seem to find this page Search/ancestorsearchresults.asp I suppose the search string should be something like https://familysearch.org/search/records... Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2012 TMG8 does not have integrated support for the new FamilySearch like RootsMagic and Legacy if that is what you are looking for.
dsmer 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2012 Thank you. That was the original question I tried to ask: Is there any place I can change the URL to point correctly? Or will it be changed in a new release? Best rgds, Michael
