Max 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2016 Family Historian 6 claims that it is possible to import data directly from TMG. Has anyone done it and can tell us what has been lost after the Import?
Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2016 The direct import does a decent job (and is the import method recommended) and has been updated a number of times based on input from TMG users. My suggestion is to try it yourself. And read the Knowledge Base article and the many topics regarding the TMG import on the FH User Group forum. http://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/ There are also informative messages by the developer in the TMG Refugees mail list archives. http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Miscellaneous/TMG-REFUGEES.html Until you are familiar with FH, it's not always obvious where the imported data resides. That's why the Knowledge Base article and the discussions on the forum and mail list are important.
Max 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2016 Many thanks Jim for the useful information. It seems that the migration to FH is possible but not straightforward because of the different design of the programs. I will probably stay with TMG for some more time.
