Add button on toolbar

I am a newbie and having issues trying to add a date for a death. When I double click on the name the add button on toolbar does not work.

Not sure why you are double clicking on the name. To add a death date add a death tag with a date. If a death tag already exists with no date double click on the death tag to open it and add the date.

You should be in the Person View for the person you are editing.

 

You can add a Death tag by...

1) Add menu / Add Tag (or F4) and selecting the Death tag from the list...

or

2) clicking the Add Tag button (the plus) or the Tag Box toolbar and selecting the Death tag from the list...

or

3) typing CTRL+D

 

Help menu / Help would have shown you those possibilities under Add Tag and the linked other help pages.

 

As Paul said, if you need to add a date to an existing Death tag, you edit the tag. You select the tag and open the tag for editing by...

1) double clicking on the tag name.

or

2) using Edit menu / Edit Tag.

or

3) typing F5.
