Did you retry? This is a misread of the project file and, in almost all circumstances, simply restarting the program works.

This problem is less likely to happen if the Welcome window is enabled...

File > Preferences > Startup and Exit > select 'Show Welcome window'

I am having a problem opening my project. It brings the project up project list, but when I click on it it says it is not a valid project. I have used this project for years now! I closed an opened TMG four times. The last time TMG opened it was in "Repair Mode" I opened another project, closed it and then tried to open mine again. No deal Get the same error message. Any guidance?

The usual order of fixes is

-- close and reopen TMG and the project

-- extract the .pjc file from a recent backup of the project and copy it over the .pjc file in the problem project

However, since your project is now opening in repair mode, contact tech support for further advice.

As Jim suggested, this is less likely to happen if you opt in Preferences to open TMG with the Welcome Window.

I always open with the Welcome Window. I have closed and reopened several times and even shut down my computer. I will try what you suggest. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my inquiry, I appreciate it.

If you don't hear from support - with the weekend coming up - and if you are comfortable working with files, you can try deleting the index (cdx) files:

Deleting cdx files:

The *.cdx files are index files. There are about 29 of them in each project. There could be fewer if TMG went into repair mode. When you delete the index files, TMG recreates them the next time it opens. Be sure TMG is closed before you delete any files.

If you don't see the files in Windows Explorer, set it to show hidden files and folders and to show extensions.
