I have been trying to get TMG to search nFS and have the following procedure working.
1. I created a custom toolbar which dose the following
a. one button creates a gedcom export
b. then second button Executes FamilyInsight
This works pretty well but I would like some help in making simpler if possible.
1. When I do the gedcom export I still must answer several questions and I would like to avoid the question but just do a gedcom export of the current person using the criteria I set up for the named export.
2. Once the gedcom is done I have to click on the FamilyInsight button in the tool bar.
Basicly I would like to create script that would do the export with no questions, then when it is done execute FamilyInsight. Maybe a bat file or something?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
roger

When you save an export configuration, it will be used by default the next time that you run the export wizard. So with that configuration, all that is necessary is to click through the screens.
You should be able to use the Windows Scripting Host (maybe) or some other scripting program to run TMG, select the ID# to make that ID cirrent, run the export wizard and click through the screens, exit TMG and then do your search using the GEDCOM that was created.

You are right when you save it it is the default but you still must make a selection on one screen to use the default person rather than all.
I was hoping for a one button solution.
Also you do not need to exit TMG just select the custom button to exe FamilyInsight.
Even with having to click all of the screens it is a much better way than other methods I have tried.
Guess I will keep looking for a one button solution. I have tried some scripting but not very clean at this time.
Thanks

The scripting solution that I suggested is a one-click solution. There are scripting programs out there that will create the appropriate script by you just clicking through the required steps and entering data where appropriate to build the script. The only more difficult part would prompting for the ID# entry.

Jim
Could you give me a example using windows scripting host? Maybe vbscript?
I have not done this before so just need something easy to get me started.
Like how to select the file, export options? Or anything that would get me started.
Thanks
Roger
