Links to the installers are at the bottom of this message.IF A QUICK REINSTALL DOES NOT WORK, THEN YOU SHOULD USE THE MORE THOROUGH PROCEDURE BELOW...%%%%%%%%%%First... The three TMG8 data folders created by the program are not affected by uninstalling and reinstalling the program.See the Data File Storage help topic.The program installer does not create, knows nothing about, nor can remove the three data folders.When you uninstall and reinstall the program, you should reinstall using the same path (or at least the same program folder name) so that your same three data folders will be used after the program is reinstalled.%%%%%%%%%%To reinstall the program (and to deal with problems when trying to update or install TMG8), first uninstall any existing TMG8 installation. Then...Delete any remnant program folder. The default for an all users installation would be:C:\Program Files\The Master Genealogist v8orC:\Program Files (x86)\The Master Genealogist v8depending on your operating system.If you did a single user installation, then the default for that would be:WinVista or later (May be hidden. See below.)C:\Users\user account name\AppData\Local\Programs\The Master Genealogist v8orWinXPC:\Documents and Settings\user account name\Local Settings\Application Data\Programs\The Master Genealogist v8Bottom line... Delete any (and all) remnant _program_ folder(s).Your TMG _data_ folders have nothing to do with the installer so do not need to be deleted. See below.)C:\Users\user account name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\The Master Genealogist v8Drag the installer from the installer folder to your desktop so that you can use it. Only do this if the installer is the latest version. Then delete the installer folder.WinVista or laterC:\ProgramData\The Master Genealogist v8 InstallerorWinXPC:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\The Master Genealogist v8 InstallerUse the latest installer. Either use the one you copied to your Desktop (above) or download the appropriate 'trial version' installer from the whollygenes.com website. (U.S. or U.K. version - see below)Then install. Be sure to install using the same path as previously used so that your existing data folders will be used.Also... When some WinVista or later users say that the installer hangs up, I suspect that there is a UAC prompt minimized to the taskbar waiting for a response.
