I carry my laptop Pens Postit notes, Hard candy (if I get low blood sugar, I get a migraine) Lots of change TMG And it doesn't hurt to take a small snack in case you get lucky and don't want to take a long lunch. THe TN archives has lockers for this, but they allow laptops, etc into the library, but they do search you when you leave.

Actually it wouldn't be just a period, but rather, you would get two, one for the period you made the sentence string and one for the period at the end of th sentence. Then you could search for a double period. Like Terry said, it's not an easy process to do unless you are already using an editable language.

No at the present time you must have something in the sentence field. You could put in a character and then search and replace it in a word processing program, but you can not get rid of it via TMG.

Good catch Terry. Yes, that should read Each tag TYPE would have to be set individually... If we had to set each tag, I'd never do research again. LOL

Yes, that would be the beauty of what I am proposing. You would be able to highlight both Principals and witnesses, just principals, or just witnesses, based on your research needs. And when those needs changed, it would be fairly easy to change the display.

I missed this, but it would be nice. I rarely use FGS because of this.

Even using another language, you can not delete the language. Each text line in the language file has to have some kind of data, so even though you can CHANGE the sentence, you can not DELETE it.

I would like an option to be able to see ALL a person's research tasks in thier research log window, not just the ones that are attached to them as P1 or P2. For example, I have my great-grandfather's research log open. It shows the 1930 and the 1920 census, but not the 1910, or 1900 census. I assume I have created those tasks yet, but I have, it's just that as the son, he is attached to the tag as a witness. I know not everyone would want this, so it would need to be an option that could be turned on or off.

Joan, Mine says June 30th so they have a while, but they still have to have a "private" code, so they'd probably need to contact tech support to use it. Also mine says you have to be a TMG Gold Edition user and they have to be purchased through the web store. The code is attached to your serial number, so you can't share it with others and it is only good once.

I'd prefer just dropping it altogether. Saying there were no known children isn't correct since you said you had them listed in another tag.

I have roles called: Widow Widower Death of Father Death of Mother Death of M-Grandfather Death of M-Grandmother Death of P-Grandfather Death of P-Grandmother etc. Death of Daughter Death of Son This way I can see in a person's PV when a relative died. Often times this helps when working with probate records and it makes me aware that a person may have been in grief when making a decision. This will explain why they made that decison, like moving 500 miles away from family.

Another thing is make sure you have administrative priviliages on the laptop. That may be what the problem is since you are using XP.

Weird. I don't think it would hurt the merge. You might have to toggle the primary name for her once it is done though.

If the mother is in the Database, click on the MOTHER Tag in the child's Person View and put in the correct ID number.

Let me third reading all of Terry's pages. They are extremely well written and very helpful whether you are a newbie or have been using TMG for years. I reread them from time to time and still find new ideas each time. Also check out Lee's page at www.tmgtips.com

John, Did you try a non breaking space variable. That might work.

Mine just print Ghee-Deeds, #324. Ghee-Deeds is the personal File Folder, and #324 is the source number. I just added the terms [PERSONAL FILE FOLDER], [sOURCE NUMBER] to the end of the source and yes, it has to be done on each source type that you want it to print for. But you can copy and paste it so it goes fairly fast.

Or use place styles and have the prepostition be what ever you want. That's what I do.

I store mine in a source element called SOURCE NUMBER and an element called PERSONAL FILE FOLDER. I also add those to the end of each source output, so my reader can request a certain document such as Ghee-Deeds, #434.

Due to recent discussion on TMG-L, I am making this a formal wishlist request for the ability to add multiple tags at once. Several good ways have been discussed. Making it where we could copy the tag to a clip board and paste. Having a drop down window where we could select 1-10, 20, 30, 40, 100 tags. At the very minium, I would like to see the warning "ADD EXACT COPY OF THIS TAG" be an optional warning in preferences so I could turn it off. Several users have stated they would like to see this added feature, and I hope they will add thier comments here as part of my wishlist item.
