  1. Just an idea I had for a new window that could display a live preview of the narative for the current person. As you edit tags the narative window would update. It would save the user from constantly running narative reports or clicking preview buttons to see how it's going. Just keep it to plain text (no typeface or size changes), so it doesn't become a resource hog.
  2. TMG8 Project Explorer missing names

This problem has been around for years now. I had it in TMG v6 and thought by v8 it would have been fixed, but I got it this morning. I haven't looked at my tree for a while now so haven't seen this bug in v8 before, but it used to happen often in v6 and v7. The easy fix is to right click in the project explorer window and select preferences. Change your "Identify Primary Name with" option to the one you're not using (Bold or Asterisk) and apply. Then change it back and click OK. You should have a complete list with no gaps. Like I say, this is an old problem and should have been fixed ages ago. We shouldn't have to pay for new versions when old bugs like this still exist.
  3. I can only get the backdrop wallpaper to display in TMGv8 with the tiling option. It doesn't display with the clip or either stretch option. I use a bmp as a key to the colours of family names in my tree, so it's important this works for me.
  4. Variable 'LCS' is not found error

Thanks. Changing the sort stopped the LCS errors. As for my Project Explorer problem, I've found it's not just editing flags. It also happens when I navigate to another person through the Siblings or Children windows, too.
  5. I'm receiving the following error whenever I edit one particular person in my tree. If I click 'Ignore' 3 or 4 times the error disappears, but reappears when I edit a tag for that person. Any edits I make are being saved, so the error isn't fatal, just annoying. Another annoying problem is with the Project Explorer. Sometimes when I edit a flag for any person, one or more persons will disappear from the Project Explorer, leaving a small gap in the list where their names should be. If I click on one of the empty spaces the details window for the person is blank. Again, it isn't fatal. I found by going to Project Explorer preferences and changing 'Identify Primary Name with:' from Asterisk to Bold and back again, then applying, it fixes the problem. I've had this problem for a while, so it isn't unique to version 7.
  6. That fixed my problem. Thanks for your help, Jim.
  7. I have tried that, but it doesn't work. If I return to that section, UK styles are still selected for both data sets, but only work for the first set.
  8. I've created a second data set within my database to research my brother-in-law's family. I created it by copying him, my sister and their kids from my data set to a new one. Everything went fine, but when I add new addresses they're using the US place style. My first data set is still using UK place styles, it's only happening with the new data set. Because I have the UK localised edition, I cannot access the default place style section in preferences. How can I change the default place style for this data set?
