  1. Update. Realized I had not installed the PDF printer. During the process, on of the messages that popped up was: Copying CDINTF.DLL file. Error 32 Process cannot be completed because it is being... The message ran off the screen and I could not enlarge the box to read the whole message, but guess it trying to say the file was in use. Anyway, I then got a successful install message. Still cannot print.
  2. After I did the above, I deleted the folders from program files and programx36 files, then reinstalled as admin. Still not able to print reports. I can't help be feel I missed something because during the install it did go thru the process of recreating the language files and other folders, which was not done during my previous install. However, It still did not ask for my serial number and I am not sure if this is important to the type of install I did. anyway, all out of ideas. Hopefully someone will be able to come up with the 'magic key' to unlock my issue.
  3. Uninstalled then re-installed as admin. When I started tag again, my project came up, which surprised me as I thought I would have to register and everything. Anyway, tried to create a report with the same results. This time, when creating the preview, I noticed and real fast display of a red progress bar with a message then was replaced with the normal progress bar.. It went by so fast I almost thought I had imagined it. Anyway, I uninstalled again and rebooted windows. Before I try another install, are there any files/folders I need to remove to make this a really clean admin re-install?
  4. Glenn/Jim/et. al. short answers first, YES I can print from the Mac and non-TMG windows programs. Checked settings on Parallels and they matched your document, except share folders which I set to all. If I set to Hom only, I lose my external data drive, which has all my TMG data base files, as well as all my other data. Next, I reinstalled Parallel tools. Then I reset TMG reports to default. Still cannot print reports. I then changed the report destination from preview to the printer itself. The system went bonkers. First I got this message: OLE Error code 0x800401454 Class not registered. Then an 'open file' window popped up looking for *.dbf file, from which I could not cancel out of. I had to force close TMG and windows. I am back to square one. any other ideas? I was planning on keeping TMG until law of gravity was repealed but will have to look at other progams if this cannot be resolved.
  5. Michael Yes I have, and I also worked with Glenn when I was first setting up. My settings appear to be as recommended. I cannot remember if I had tried to print from TMG after I installed on the Mac (only had Mac for less than two years.) so this may not be a new problem, per se, but an unknown issue just discovered.
  6. Jim - Still cannot print reports. Tried following your instructions and found out that while I had dowloaded 9.05, I had not installed it, so I was still running 9.04. Here is what I did: 1. Installed 9.05 2. Tried reports, no go 3. Ran repair, still no printed reports. 4. Installed (or re-installed) PDF printer. Still no printed reports. Prior to all of this, I verified my printer settings in windows and TMG. Correct printer was selected as windows default. TMG was set to use windows default printer. I tried resetting the printer in TMG to the specific one but no luck. I want to specifically mention that I can generate the report preview and print view with no issues. It's when I click on the 'print' icon that nothing happens. I mean nothing. It's like I never clicked on print at all. What else can I do?
  7. environment: Mac mavericks, Parallels 9 windows 7 I installed TMG 9 without any problems or issues. However, when I was restoring my project, I kept getting prompts asking if I wanted DNA files in my project restoration to overwrite the DNA files that had just been installed by TMG 9. Not knowing any better, I answered YES, overwrite all files with those in my project. In hindsight, maybe I should not have, since I remember (now that it is too late) Jim recently issuing a new DNA template for TMG8. My question is: did I lose DNA updates contained in TMG9 by using the ones in my project. If so, will running the template file that Jim provided for TMG 8 undo what I did?
  8. Thanks Jim. Fortunately I had already downloaded the file awhile back but never got around to installing it. However, I found that it was not a zip file, just a file that I had to copy to the appropriate folder, which ended up overwriting the older version. So I guess I am good to go.
  9. I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to TMG 9 (from TMG 8). I seem to remember reading tips, suggestions, cautions and guidelines about installing TMG 9 alongside of TMG 8 but cannot now locate the thread. What do I have to be aware of when installing v9? For ex., I think I remember some users had issues with v8 folders being created(?) when installing v9. I am currently running v8.8 on a Mac using parallels and windows 7. Thanks
  10. Moving from TMG 8 to TMG 9

    Thanks Jim
  11. Moving from TMG 8 to TMG 9

Thanks. If I understand, I can create my \v9data folder (I store the data on a external drive). Copy my data files from \v8data to \v9data. I then create a \v9bak folder and backup my v8 project to that folder. Then uninstall and remove all instances of the v8 project folders. At that point I can install v9 and v9 preferences to the correct paths. All my exhibits are external so they are not a problem. Two questions: what to I do with my custom layout? Do I have to restore my project in v9 to open it, or can I just open the project?
  12. TMG V9 Topics not counting views or responses

I am using Safari and have the same issue.
  13. I just moved TMG 8.8 to a new computer. Everything went well except I managed to misplace my custom layout. Normally, I would just restore from a backup but I'm not confident that my backup is the latest (my move from old to new PC was rather hurried as I was getting hardware failure warnings and just overlooked creating a current backup). I tried restoring the layout by selecting the option to restore layout only, but when it warned me that I would be overwriting data, I stopped as I was not sure what data was being referred to, custom layout or other data. I still have the old computer so I could copy the layout file if I knew where it was. Which method is better? Restoring a layout from a backup, or copying the file from the old PC? If copying is better, where would it be located? Thanks.
  14. Retrieving custom layout

    I have now.
  15. Retrieving custom layout

Virginia/Michael As usual, problem was user related. I could not find the path because the folders were hidden.. Once I had the hidden folders displayed, I was able to copy the custom layout and all is well. Thanks for you help.
  16. Retrieving custom layout

Yes. I have the txt file for the path and Glenn also helped offline. TMG seemed to work fine, otherwise.
  17. Retrieving custom layout

I found the file on my old PC (user\my username\appdata\roaming\tmg). However, I cannot find the equivalent location on the new PC. I can only locate: \user\my username\ . Do not have \appdata\roaming\TMG . Perhaps the fact I am using a Mac with Parallels has something to do with it?
  18. OT: Parallels and TMG

I just bought an iMac to replace my windows PC when it dies. I plan on migrating from the old to the new over a period of time. Since I will be running TMG on the iMac at some point, I am gathering info about parallels and how it works. Obviously, I have questions. 1. Is there a more appropriate site than this forum for me to go to with my questions? 2. Does time machine backup the data on the windows side, or do I need separate windows software for that? 3. I will be using an external disk drive for data storage formatted using the EXFat file system (to minimize the number external drives, I plan on using it for both windows and mac data). Are there any issues regarding this format I should be aware of? Thanks Bob
  19. OT: Parallels and TMG

I had to move to my Mac because I started getting hard drive failure imminent messages from multiple diagnostics tools on my windows PC. In doing so, I had to take a crash (figuratively and literally) course in Parallels and Windows installation. I want to thank Glenn Gilbert for providing a lot advice and recommendations offline during the migration. And I've not even gotten to installing TMG yet. Thanks Glenn
  20. OT: Parallels and TMG

Larry/Jim/Glenn Thanks for the info. Between what your answers and the threads that Larry directed my to, I think I have enough to begin thinking about Moving TMG to the Mac.
  21. TMG 8 and ss

Will the latest version of SS work with TMG 8? I have no immediate plans to upgrade to TMG 9 but would like to start using SS to create cd's for distribution.
  22. TMG 8 and ss

Thanks. That means I only have to buy SS only, and not TMG 9 at this time
  23. Are the TMG installation instuctions for Windows 7 the same as they are for Vista?
  24. custom layout file

What file(s) do I need to copy to rstore my custom layouts on my new PC?
  25. custom layout file

Thanks Jim and Virginia. My folders were hidden. I thought I had unhidden them but obviously had not. All is working as it should be now.
