  1. Where are all my previous posts?

I had not seen that post and that is really a shame! Also I see Bob V. says posts are NOT kept after a certain amount of time from the support forums, I wonder why that is? I think the need would be to preserve all past questions, so the same stuff don't have to be re-hashed over and over in the future. Well thank you anyways, and I am REALLY sorry I did not print out that past posting of mine now! It is gone forever! I took for granted (ignorantly) that the support forum was all archived and preserved!
  2. I created a filter using LOP that changed a certain flag (named "List temp") from ? to Y that worked fine. and as it went through it showed that 419 folks were changed from ? to Y OK now I go to PE and have it filter the listing showing only those with that "List temp" flag showing "Y" and my resuts: show those with primary names only gives me 348 names show those with both (primary and non-primary) gives me 491 names. Why are there so many differences? Where are the 419 folks? Notes: 1. I am creating this flag so that I can then add the folks from the PE into a focus group and create a GEDCOM containing those people 2. I first go through and have all folks in the project, change "List temp" to ?, so all previously set to Y are ? 3.The filter is saved and so I do not even enter it to change any variables each time. I even went back and went through the whole process twice now, just to make sure I had not switched around the 419 and 491..
  3. WORD links not to copied images

This is not "exactly" and answer to your problem... but what I do when I want to share a report with images is ... create it in Word... from there I mess with the images and resized many manually (since there is no option for TMG to do this) once I get it all "ready for the presses.." I click on print to a PDF document. that creates something you can send and not have to worry about messing with sending separate photo files at all!
  4. In my small hometown, many times over the years various families lived at the same address... So I thought it was neat to be able to go to the Master Place List, pick an address, and link a photo for the house found there... Example: Photo of 58 Main Street, hometown, USA... After linking several photos to their respective address, I searched for someone who actually has a residence at one of the addresses that has a pic linked to it within Master Place list, and created a report that includes the 'residence" tag associated with that home and also check to show all exhibits in the options. Well.... no go on the photo showing up in the report. It says: John Doe lived at 58 Main Street in 1922 in the report (created to Word v6). So the tag is showing up ... but the ability to go to "edit" and "links" as I do in all other reports, is grey out and thus no links to pic for this addresses "house photo" What is the point of linking pictures to places if they don't print? Or am I missing a step?
  5. Linking a photo to an place in Master Place List

Yes I have done that from the start (linking photos of the address of grandma's house from the 1930 census to her 1930 census tag). But one of the updates (I think it was the first 6.0) allowed us to link an exhibit to a place from within the Master place list. So my thinking was that by linking the photo of the house located at 430 Main Street from within the Master Place field would be great... Then whenever I find somone else that lived at 430 main street... I would choose that address from the F2 place list and then when the report printed it would put that pic in the report! BUT NO it does not work. for now I have to link the photo of the house at 430 Main to EACH tag.. as a person is found to live there (the old way I have been doing since first using TMG) So I guess I still do not understand the use for linking a photo of a place to any given place from within the Master Place field... To see where grandma lived in the 1930 census, I have to go to grandma... and click on her 1930 census tag, and open the exhibit linked to that.
  6. I have been transcribing off a church microfilm and entering data into my TMG I want to share my "finds" with a fellow researcher I want to create a report showing the names of folks I have found that are baptized at a certain church and the information I have found about that. The report would look like this: ****************** Folks Baptized at St. George Church John Smith was baptized on Sep 9, 1899 at St. George Church, sponsors were Herman and Clara Snodgrass George Smith was baptized on Jul 12, 1901 at St. George Church, sponsors were Peter Buco and May Boone. ******************* so I have created a filter of all folks baptized at St. George and places those names into a focus group. Now to get a report that Prints all these names in the focus group, and the information from the Baptism tag only. I tried a LOP report, but there is no option of choosing the baptism tag to place into a column, and I don't want column's anyway. I just want a one line sentence for each person. (using the standard sentence structure: [P] was baptized <[D]> <[L]> <[M]>) (I have the sponsor information in the memo field)
  7. Need help creating a report

ALRIGHTY! I had my hubby help me on this one... We did get the subject to the focus group (DUH I had a check mark in the box for "Use the current focus person" thus the other options were greyed out!) Then we sent it to a Word Document, which did NOT make a separate page for each person. in the options for the report under Miscellaneous, I did NOT put a check mark under "Other", "Page break before each subject" and VOILA it is just perfect! Thanks to all who helped me out on this project! Now if someone could just help me with my other problem of how to get the exhibits for home addresses that are linked from within the Master Place list to print in Narrative reports.... (see prior post in another topic)
  8. Need help creating a report

Only problem is of course, now I have to go in and edit all 147 baptism tags adding this imaginary friend as a witness... and this is a SMALL project! If I wanted to print all of the family that is buried at one of our local cemeteries back home (it is a huge cemetery) this would be an overwhelming task, editing all those burials to add an imaginery friend as a witness named "St George cemetery"
  9. Need help creating a report

But how am I to include all the folks of the Focus Group to create ONE Individual Narrative? I feel I would need to choose each one, individually create a IN and then go on to the next person, create the IN for that one... and so on... I just went to look at my TMG and the only choice to create an IN is for the current person or ONE person whom you enter the ID # for.
  10. Need help creating a report

Jeff, Thank you for putting thought and an answer to my query. I will give it a try... seems an odd way to have to do it... Since I already have all people into my database and all the baptisms entered (147 so far) Unless I misunderstand your directions... I now have to create an "imaginary friend" St. Georg Church and then go back into each baptism and add him as a witness. Yes, creating a role of "Building" would save the sentence too... Will try on ten of the baptisms.. and try to print... let you know how that goes. Anyone else have any suggestions?
  11. My citations disappeared

This thread really makes me worry, as I use F3 continuously. I do not understand exactly what you are saying here Jim. I "Guess" I am alright, as I open a tag (new or existing), hit F4 then hit F3. I don't know of any other way to add a citation besides using the (+) or hitting F4. Where would one find the "citation Field"? I guess I want to be sure I don't don't use the "wrong" way of adding... but don't understand what that is, exactly. Sorry for being confused...
  12. Include SSN?

The SSDI is widely available on the Internet. so I don't see any reason not to print it for the deceased persons. If someone wants to find dead folks SSN they only need to go to the free database online to get it. IMHO
  13. Linking a photo to an place in Master Place List

OK Well that don't make me happy... I spent (or Wasted) a lot of time to link photos to addresses, and now have no use for that. Thanks to both of you for taking time to answer anyways...
