  1. Error messages on start-up

Dear Phil It has occurred to me that one way around not being able to send you the app.ini file (I don't know what is stopping it) is to rename it - so it is attached as app.jpg. If you name it back to app.ini on receipt perhaps we have succeeded. Best wishes Mike Clark
  2. Error messages on start-up

Dear Phil Many thanks for your interest. As far as I can tell the paths in File>Preferences (including those in >Advanced) are normal: certainly I have not made any recent changes to the file system that might have triggered the current vulnerability of the system. I attached the app.ini file on your advice to see if that reveals anything, but received the error message "Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload a file with that file extension." Best wishes, Mike Clark
  3. Over the past several days each time I have started TMG (UKv6) I have been presented with two dialog boxes following the splash screen. The first says "Invalid path or file name", and can be dismissed by clicking on "Ignore"; the second says "Nesting error" and again can be dismissed by clicking "Ignore". Thereafter the system loads and appears to function normally. I am not aware of having made any configuration change to either hardware or software that might have triggered this change in TMG performance. I have used the file> maintenance >optimise and >validate file integrity procedures. Any advice would be most welcome. Mike Clark
  4. Problem with "Add new person"

I am always humbled when my baffling problem makes instant sense to someone else! The suggestion worked perfectly, and having once restored the "Add new person" window to the front of the display it seems to re-appear there when the function is used again. Very many thanks. Mike
  5. Following 10 days of quite intensive use of TMG (UK) v 6.07.000 - producing no problems - the application has started freezing when the "Add new person" menu bar icon is clicked. The whole application then locks, and the only way out is to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete and end task. The system itself (Windows XP) is wholly unaffected, and TMG will immediately re-boot without difficulty or damage to the project. The problem does not occur if the drop-down menu from the Add button on the top menu bar is used instead: the add new person function then works as normal. Exactly the same fault is now occurring on my laptop version of TMG - but this has presumably transferred as one of the settings when the project was moved from one computer to the other using back-up and restore. I have tried re-installing TMG, but this makes no difference, which suggests (to my inexpert mind) that the problem is located in the project data or configuration rather than the software. Could anyone suggest which setting might be responsible, and how I might reset it? Very many thanks Mike Clark
  6. Fonts in Family View

Very many thanks - I was looking at the wrong "other" category in Preferences. What I assume is that the point size on this dialog box applies when the Family View is at its initial size, and this then expands as you drag the window larger. So with my flat screen a setting of 5 on the dialog box gives a very satisfactory display which looks about what you would normally expect from 12 point or 14 point. Much appreciated, Mike
  7. As a new user with a large high-resolution monitor, I am displaying the various windows at quite a large scale. The online user manual (page 103) suggests that font size can be set in an option under File > Preferences > Program Options > Other - but I am unable to locate a setting in this dialog that refers to fonts. Several of the other windows have similarly over-sized fonts if the windows are expanded. Is there a way of controlling this setting, please?
