Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 That suggests that the 16-bit code in the word processing module is failing. What operating system are you running? The word processing module will not run on 64-bit operating systems and TMG does not support those operating systems. The other option is that a system tuning utility has been run and has made changes that affect the 16-bit support in the operating system. A user just worked this out and was able to restore 16-bit support in his Windows installation and a second user was able to use the same fix. I've run repair on Word and reinstalled TMG 7.02---- no change. Here's a fuller description of the problem, I have been directing Reports to Word files for ages, but now the Report writer gets to the point where it writes the report to disk and doesn't go any further; just a Please Wait box in the top right hand corner of the screen. The only way to proceed is to envoke Windows Task Manager and click on End Task for TMG. Immediatly TMG gives notice that "File was successfully exported to...... Open file Now?" . On top of this the End Now notice comes up which I cancel and then click on YES to open the file now in the other notice. Word starts up and opens the file (correctly named) but the file is blank. I can then go on using TMG but not get .doc or .rtf files saved. There is no problem saving to .pdf or printing from a screen report. there seems to just a problem actually writing the file in Word. Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2008 You didn't say whether a system tuneup/optimizer might have been used on your system. The attempts to fix things (above) would not have worked if that were the case unless the change that had been made to your system was undone. There is either something on the system changed/broken or there is a conflict with another application. Did word processing reports ever work correctly on your current computer, operating system and TMG7 installation? If so, you need to concentrate on what changes might have been made to your system. This affects all reports to a word processor? This happens with the Sample project? You have reset your report definition by clicking the [Delete] button on the report definition screen? You probably need to contact Support directly and let them work through this with you.
