august 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 Where is the language located in the file system? The reason I am asking is that I had a problem with greyed out buttons, didn't look into the manual (where the solution is described ...) and made a complete reinstallation of the program. Before that I made backups of: - Documents and Settings - Program files - My files Meanwhile I solved the problem as it was explained in the manual and copied back all old files. Everything is as before, only the translations I had changed in the German language are missing. Where can I find them, they must be located in any file. Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 Language translations are stored in a file called Strings.dbf. The Help topic "Data File Storage" describes the locations of the data files - as it says, the Language files are in the "Shared Program Data Files"group, which by default are stored: Windows Vista: C:\ProgramData\The Master Genealogist v7 Windows XP and Windows 2000: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\The Master Genealogist v7
august 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 Many thanks, Terry. Next time I will check the documentation first, which seems to be much better than usual.
Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 You're welcome, August. I think the Help system in TMG is very good and very through. But it's a complex program so there's lots of information, and sometimes you have to use the search feature to find what you need.
