mglast@verizon.net 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2017 I have TMG 7 Gold and I am having minor issues running it on my Win 10 machine. It apparently isn't saving serial # when I put it in. About every third time I open the program it asks me for the serial #. Will Version 9 run on Win 10? How can I get a copy?
Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2017 In general, TMG7 should run fine under Windows 10. The PDF driver won't work. And there won't be word processor output under 64-bit Windows but that was a limitation long before Win10. You need to unlock TMG two ways... 1) Unlock while running normally as a Standard user. 2) Unlock while running as Administrator. Right-click on the TMG shortcut and select ‘Run as administrator’. Respond to the prompt affirmatively and then unlock TMG. After unlocking, exit TMG. Unlocking as administrator became necessary beginning with Windows 8 when the operating system began periodically removing the TMG registration information. Windows 10 made another change requiring unlocking by both methods. You can get a license for TMG9. It will also run fine under Windows 10 and, again, the PDF driver won't work. And you will have word processor output under 64-bit Windows versions. Check this topic for how to buy a TMG9 license. http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?/topic/15915-tmg9-final-installers-v905/
mglast@verizon.net 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2017 What would TMG 9 get me, besides the word processor output that I don't already have with my present TMG 7 Gold?
Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2017 If word processor output under 64-bit operating systems isn't important, then you could live with TMG7. If you ever plan to move to another program, then v9.05 is important both for direct imports and for GEDCOM import. The change log after v9.00 is here. http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?/topic/15543-tmg-v9-change-log/ If you write me, I can send you all change logs after v7.04 so that you can see everything that was done.
