Database corruption

Recommended Posts

 Oh my gosh - how is this possible? My 11 year old son is married to my dad and has four children! I have actually had this problem for awhile and it usually involves the 10 people in my database. Usually I reindex/optimize/validate integrity and it goes away. But this time I just now did all that and it's still there. Also, the four "children" of my son and my dad have numbers between 1 and 10 but their names are unknown - although those numbers are also used for other family members. And when I look at the project explorer there are 12 (unknown), (2) entries at the top (no filters). Number two is actually me! Am I missing something? Do I need to perform some other indexing?

Any help appreciated.

What version of TMG are you using - 6.04?

How is the Project Explorer sorted - by surname or some other sort?

If you print out a Family Group Sheet for yourself, is that correct or does it show the same misinformation?

You might try deleting the index files for the project. Those are the 29 *.CDX files in the project folder (each file beginning with the project name). This is done while TMG is closed. When you open the project again, the indexes will be regenerated. It's always good to have a current backup before deleting any files.

If you have any questions about deleting the .CDX files, let us know.

:( No luck. Yes, I'm using 6.04 and the group sheet prints fine. Project Explorer is sorted by surname. When I make my son the focus person he is not married to anyone, although he does have 4 (unknown) children.

I deleted the index files and reopened the file but the problem recurs. Interestingly, I added a tag for my daughter that I noticed was missing and the 12 (unknown)s in the PE had the number 4 after them instead of the number 2. My daughters number isn't 4 though, it's 15673!

I use this software every single day and I don't think I could live without!it! Even with weird stuff it is indispensable.

Thanks for the possible solution, Lori

Have you tried changing the PE sort to say ID# and then back to surname?  Is the problem still there in an ID# sort?  Do the names and ID#s appear normally in the Simple Picklist?

Tried that - stayed the same. The regular names and IDs appear normally in the Picklist but there are still about a dozen (unknown)s in the list with various ID#s attached that are also in use elsewhere. Also odd: my number 1 person, my husband, stays at the top of the PE no matter what sort is used! Stranger and stranger.
