kevin_b 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2006 Is there a more suitable source type to use for Draft Registration card information other than "Military Record"? Or should I just create a new source type of "Military - Draft Reg." ? Opinions?
Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2006 I use a single source definition for all draft cards, as follows: FF: [RECORD TYPE], National Archives micropublication [FILM NUMBER]-[CD4] SF: [CD1], [RECORD TYPE], roll [FILM NUMBER]-[CD4] Bib: [REPOSITORY ADDRESS]. [REPOSITORY]. [RECORD TYPE]. Micropublication [FILM NUMBER] Source Elements are: Record Type = Draft Registration Card Film number = M1509 Comments = seen on Ancestry.com The CDs are: CD1= name of registrat CD2= "serial no. xxx" and/or "order no. yyy" CD3= date of registration CD4= roll no. of film I add the table for CD segments in segment 2 of Comments so I have it for reference when I apply the source. As with all sources of this type using CD segments to identify the particular record, if you every use the Ibid funtion in reports be sure to check under "Ibid" on the Output Forms tab of the source definition either "On - requires same source and CD" or "Off."
