The Source Abbrevation field is an internal field to TMG and is not relevant to other users, especially when uploading to RootsWeb and the like. I really don't need the world to see how I have chosen to abbreviate a source title to make it easy for me to locate in TMG. Jon, I haven't looked at how to stop the problem at source but have a quick solution for your Rootsweb display (assuming you're talking about World Connect database gedcom upload) On the Advanced version of the upload, down at option 32 there's a place to pop in the tags you don't want displayed, comma separated.
