alacrityrose 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 (edited) There must be SOME way to copy individuals from one project to another. I tried merging two projects, but I couldn't do that without having duplicates of everyone who appeared in both projects (and two data sets). And I couldn't get rid of the duplicates! I don't want to hand enter, one at a time, the 300 people that I now want to copy into the other project. Does anyone know the secret? I just want to have ONE data set in ONE project. Thanks. Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 You can't Copy between two Projects; you can only copy between Data Sets. But you can do what you want, in at least two ways: 1. Identify those you want to "copy" and collect them in a Focus Group, select them in the Project Explorer, or specify them with a Filter (this last may require the use of a temporary flag). Then, use the Secondary output of the List of People report to create a new Project containing only those people. Then, merge the that Project with your target Project, then merge the resulting data sets in that project. 2. Merge the two projects as you already have tried. But instead of merging the Data Sets, collect the people you want to copy in a Focus Group, or select them in the Project Explorer. Then use the Copy Persons command on the Add menu to copy those people to the target Data Set. Finally, delete the Data Set from the other project to end up with only a single project. Paul has already directed you to my articles that tell how to use Project and Data Set merge. There is also one on Copying People which includes some helpful details.
