Alan Mead 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 I would very much like to use hanging indents for my individual narrative reports: 1797 Text ..... I've modified my sentence structure to [Y][:TAB:][P] was born <[D]> <[L]> <[M]> which would seem to be the way to do it, followed by a tweak in my word processing software to produce the "hang", but I invariably get the individual's name before the year as well as at [P]. The sentence structure remains as P1: [Y][:TAB:][P] was born <[D]> <[L]> <[M]> Great progam and love finding ways to stretch it!
Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 Narrative reports always start with the name of the subject of the report or report section. That's where the source notes, ID#, back references, etc. are attached. If the sentence of your first tag begins with the name of the person, that name is used. If not, the name itself is added, as you are seeing. My suggestion is to allow the name to stand on it's own, and make the first tag a new line in your report. Or, make the first tag one that names the parents: [P]
