  1. Thanks for us that use TMG but haven't delved into its inner workings.
  2. Jim stated much earlier in discussing NOTE tags to "set the TMG Not tag type GEDCOM export value to EVEN TYPE ... will import into RM with all their data." How do you do that?
  3. I use Ver 9.03 and am creating a Journal report with sources as footnotes. When there are multiple sources for an item the 2nd and subsequent footnote numbers are in a smaller font size than the first one. I have, under the Fonts and Colors tab, the Exponents set at Arial,8,R, and it appears that the first source number is that size, but the subsequent ones appear to be a 6 or smaller. Why is that and how do I correct it?
  4. Cremation Tag

What tag would you recommend to record a cremation, since there isn't one supplied?
  5. Cremation Tag

Thanks. You would think that since this is becoming more popular (especially in the U.S.) that there would be one already supplied within TMG.
  6. I've been attempting to create a filter to list all primary individuals in the database for which I still need to find the 1940 census record. I've created a filter: ( Death Year > 1940 Or Birth Year > 1880) And Census Year = 1930 Which works just fine, but I get 1014 results and many of those already have the 1940 census. I've been looking for a way to next include a logic item that states that I don't yet have a census record with the year 1940 for the individual, but I cannot find any operator that would do that. If I insert an AND Census Year <= 1939 at the end I get the same results. I would appreciate some help here.
  7. Filtering on non-1940 Census Tag

Great! Now it works just fine. I ended up with 699 individuals for whom I have yet to find a 1940 census, based on the criteria listed above. I have created a search filter for CENS140 = 'Y' and will use that, changing the flag to 'N' as I go. I appreciate all the help. I've been a computer programmer in business for more than 35 years and I could have written a program to do this in one step if I could have had access to a program editor/compiler that could read the data structure. Anyway, again, thanks.
  8. Relationship calculator problem

OK, I see the "caution" there, but it has worked fine about 99.9% of the time for me. And it did back in Ver7 also. Maybe some people have problems and that's why the "caution" is there, but I haven't run into that (yet). Just my "two cents."
  9. Relationship calculator problem

How far is "too far"? Mine works through 10th cousins, of which I've found several. Or 8th great-grandparents.
  10. Relationship calculator problem

Au contraire! I have the "Automatic Relation Tag" checked on (see Preferences/Current Project Options/Other) and whenever I create a child from a previously identified relative it automatically sets the relationship in the new individual (i.e. father was 2nd cousin 2 times removed, the children are automatically set to 3rd cousin 1 time removed). Once in awhile I may need to go back and refresh them if something gets "out of whack", but most of the time it works just fine for me.
  11. Filtering on non-1940 Census Tag

Michael, I must be really dense. I created the new flag and also did the LOP report and set the flag to 'Y' in the secondary output and it worked just fine. BUT, when I get to the LOE I cannot find a filter field of "CENSUS" that I can pick and set the filters. What am I now missing?
  12. Filtering on non-1940 Census Tag

Obviously that works, but that just gives me a listing of where the entries where I had applied the source# as a citation. I guess I'm lost here. Thanks anyway for the help. I'll just plod on and find the ones I'm missing as I work on the individuals.
  13. Filtering on non-1940 Census Tag

I guess I'm really out of luck, since I use the general Census tag, but created a different Source for each census (in my database the 1900 census is #6, 1940 is #248, etc.) I don't find any way to filter on the Source #.
  14. Filtering on non-1940 Census Tag

Sorry, that didn't work. I recreated the filter just as you have typed it, but It actually INCREASED the number of records returned.
  15. I installed version 9.01 from disk and after backup/restore from v7.03 I thought I would look at the reports. First of all I checked to make sure the Printer Setup was correct and saw that the "Windows default" radial was on. Then I produced a "Descendant Indented Chart", which was created just fine, and I clicked on the Print button in the upper left - nothing happened. I checked my printer queue and there was nothing there. I tried again with the same result. I closed TMG, reopened, went through the same steps and still nothing. Then I looked at the destination of the report and the "printer" radial was on; checked the "Properties" and my printer was there - still nothing. Then I did something which I cannot remember what it was (sorry), but now when I attempt to "Create Report" I get the error message "OLE err code 0x80040154: Class not registered." When I click on "Ignore" everything goes away and I start over. When I then click on "Cancel" another window opens that has the error "Unknown member ROPROTECTMAN." When I click on "OK" from there another window opens where I'm supposed to find some *.dbf table to load and I can't cancel that operation nor stop TMG unless I use the Task Manager. BTW, other apps are printing just fine, so it's not the printer nor Windows. Help!!
  16. Printing Issue with 9.01 - Error Codes

I did that and it seemed to correct the problem, since I can now print a report. And, I now saw the installation warning "again" that asked if I wanted something from a company name "Am---" to install software on my computer. I now remember I saw that yesterday while either v9.01 was being installed or some other time and I responded "NO" because I had no idea what that was. Maybe others let anybody install software but I do not. Maybe Wholly Genes should inform the users that this would happen upon installation of the PDF printer, etc. Thank you, Jim, for your quick help.
  17. Printing Issue with 9.01 - Error Codes

OK, I'll do it. Or at least attempt to do so. BUT, if that's the way TMG is now working, why isn't it installed by default?
  18. Printing Issue with 9.01 - Error Codes

why do I need the PDF printer since I'm not using that selection? I never installed it under v7 either
  19. Printing Issue with 9.01 - Error Codes

Yes, I checked to make sure the folder was correct before I typed the command. I am running a 64-bit system. Should I uninstall TMG and then reinstall? The original installation gave no errors. I got a cd, not a download, of TMG v9.01.
  20. Printing Issue with 9.01 - Error Codes

Nope. Got down to step 6 and then it gave me an error "the module cdintf400.dll failed to load" "could not be found"
  21. Printing Issue with 9.01 - Error Codes

Ahhh. That's what I did to get the error messages. When in the Report Definition Screen I select "Printer" the errors show up. When I select "Screen Preview" then click on the printer button in the upper right is when nothing happens. Looks like something is really amiss here. Can't believe that wasn't tested before roll-out. Does WhollyGenes know about this?
  22. It seems I cannot created a Family Group Sheet (FGS) for my maternal grandfather that has his parents or children listed. If I change the person to his wife, my grandmother, then her FGS looks fine. I've checked the links and eveything appears to be correct for parents and children. I've also run the Optimize routine. I've closed TMG and reopened with no help. I've gone one generation further down his line and everything appears fine there, with the FGS being created correctly. Help!
  23. I founf the problem. When I did a descendant list he seems to have two marriages. I looked at his detail and his marriage license did not have the other principal. I looked back at the FGS and then noticed that it was a multiple page report - the 2nd page was correct. I added my grandmother to the marriage license and eveything then turned out OK. Thanks for at least looking into this for me. This just shows that sometimes the smallest of things can through reports off.
  24. I have both the "No threshold" and "Include blank surety" checked and it still does not work for him, but does for anyone else.
  25. Sometimes your find a source that verifies a date, such as a birth date (i.e. 1900 census), or death date (i.e. SSDN) and sometimes you find a source that verifies a location, such as birth or death county/state. How can you differentiate these sources when there is only one tag (i.e. birth or death, etc.)? I've been adding the sources to the same tag, but it does seem wrong.
