  1. Filter in TMG v 8

I have run into this problem also and see no easy way around it. I am checking Citation details for presence/absence of certain data and setting a flag so I can follow up with a Picklist Filter to examine them in detail. My only bypass so far is to generate a report and use that to select the people one at a time. Not a big problem but irritating.
  2. Variable 'EFOOT' is not found.

Just a note to others who stumble on this problem. I just found out that if I filter for non-primary events also that I don't get the error message. It would appear that the display of the changed tag is involved in the problem.
  3. Variable 'EFOOT' is not found.

OK, sounds good. Since nothing bad happens with the problem, I will just continue to ignore the error until TMG 8 is out and hope it is fixed at that time. Since most of my people have many tags I really need to filter the tag list. Thanks to all for the help.
  4. Variable 'EFOOT' is not found.

Taking your question as a starting point, I located a candidate tag, one with a memo field, and then reset the tag type filter. I then swapped the two ids and got no error. BUT when I set the tag type filter in place again, I got the error. It would seem that the problem lies with the tag type filter area. Anything else I can try to help isolate the problem?
  5. Variable 'EFOOT' is not found.

I have not used the right click menu but I am filtered for DEATH tage via the "Filter for tags of this type" icon in the command area at the top of the screen. with that provision you are mostly correct. Since the Project Explorer filter is for anyone with the role of SPOUSE and that role still exists (though now a witness instead of primary) they are still in the filter. I have to clear the COMMON1 flags and reset them with a report to reduce the selection list.
  6. Variable 'EFOOT' is not found.

One added piece of information. I can edit a tag with the error conditions without swapping the people and roles and there is no error. It only seems to occure when I swap the witness for the primary. It doesn't require swapping the roles as well, only swapping the person numbers.
  7. Variable 'EFOOT' is not found.

I am using a vanilla Explorer filter for Death tags with a role of SPOUSE and a flag called COMMON1. This was set up to flag the events I needed to change. Nothing really fance. I have found out some additional clues. What I am doing is swapping a primary person with role of SPOUSE for a witness person with role DECEASED then changing the primary role to PRINCIPAL. When I click on OK for the tag entry I get the error. No problem when I was changing the witness person and role. I also now know that the error only occurs if I have data in the MEMO field of the DEATH tag. I use MEMO1 to store the cause of death if known so most events have nothing but many have an entry. I repeatedly scanned for events with and without memo fields and this has always held.

That's fine. I am almost done downloading TMG 7.04 just to be sure I have a goo install. I will wait for your reply. If not until next week, have a Merry Christmas.
  9. Variable 'EFOOT' is not found.

Jim. I did this three days ago after a system crash and refresh from backups. I had to refresh TMG 7.04 from the WhollyGenes website. As far as I know now, everything is comletly up-t0-date and ceertainly is with TMG. As I baqck up my data daily, there was no problem with the project files.
  10. I have been editing a tag to propogate a role from the witness section to the Primary section in order to use the Principal role for it. Every 5-10 edits, I get an error message when I attempt to save the tag. If I Ignore the error, there doesn't appear to be any negative effect. The tag is saved correctly with the changes made. The full text of the error is: ErrorMarker: Variable 'EFOOT' is not found. 599 FRMDETAILS.CNTEVENTLIST.MPREPAREEVENTS3 Is this a bug, an error in my database or a procedural error on my part? I have already run Optimize and Validate File Integrity with no adverse indications.
  11. Holes in Project Explorer

Peter: This doesn't work for me. I ran Reindex, Optomize, VFI three times in a row this morning and the error is still there. Interesting observation. I have a hole at the 28th position from the bottom of the list. I ran the filter on the picklist and determined the entry that should have been there. I then corrected that entry which removed it from inclusion by the filter. I reran the filter in PE and the hole was still at postion 28 from the end and on an individual that showed up in the list on the prior run. Soooo, I am using ID as the PR sort field so I don't have to contend with the holes for now.
  12. Holes in Project Explorer

I'm not quite sure what you meant by your answer, but I ran a test again and entered the same conditions in the simple picklist. That was I could find the person who should have been in the hole in the PE. That person was a male husband, given name unknown, with a wife and thre children. The tag box shows a narrativechildren tag, a marriage tag, two son-bio tags, and a dau-bio tag. The primary name tag is a name-birth tag with only the surname filled in. Running the PE filter with this person as focus gives a PE with no holes.
  13. Holes in Project Explorer

To further isolate the problem, I ran the test on another of my projects with the same results. I then tried the Sample project but there aren't enough entries to show the problem. Finally, I created a new project from a GEDCOM file and it exhibited the problem too. That's all I can think of to do so will wait for smarter heads to make suggestions.
  14. Holes in Project Explorer

Changing the sort sequence to anything except "Surname, Given name, Birth date" eliminates the holes. However changing back to that sequence reinstates the holes. So, the only sequence that fails is: Sort sequence is Sur name, Given name, Birth date, with current person not in the list that the filter will select. This fails every time for me. I will try different filters to see if that makes a difference.
  15. How to get an empty sentence?

Thanks, Terry, that will teach me to pay closer attention to the new functionality of TMG. That works like a charm.
