How does one insert a link to an old forum message into a new message?

Thanks,

The format for a whole topic is
[topic=1234]enter label here[/topic]

You can find the topic number by going to that topic, and looking at the URL in the address bar on your browser - the end of the URL is the topic number. Look at this topic - the number is 13837

The post format is the same, and will take you to the individual post, but I don't know how to get the post number.

The post format is the same, and will take you to the individual post, but I don't know how to get the post number.

You click the Post # link in the upper right of the post and copy the URL. Paste that URL into the message in which you want the link and now you have a link to the post in your message. All you need to do is to paste the URL itself. The remainder is added automatically.

The following is a link to the first message in this topic.
