MsScarlet1957 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 I have been transcribing off a church microfilm and entering data into my TMG I want to share my "finds" with a fellow researcher I want to create a report showing the names of folks I have found that are baptized at a certain church and the information I have found about that. The report would look like this: ****************** Folks Baptized at St. George Church John Smith was baptized on Sep 9, 1899 at St. George Church, sponsors were Herman and Clara Snodgrass George Smith was baptized on Jul 12, 1901 at St. George Church, sponsors were Peter Buco and May Boone. ******************* so I have created a filter of all folks baptized at St. George and places those names into a focus group. Now to get a report that Prints all these names in the focus group, and the information from the Baptism tag only. I tried a LOP report, but there is no option of choosing the baptism tag to place into a column, and I don't want column's anyway. I just want a one line sentence for each person. (using the standard sentence structure: [P] was baptized <[D]> <[L]> <[M]>) (I have the sponsor information in the memo field)

Then all that person St George church would have would be witness tags. Run off an Individual Narrative A sentence something like [P1] was baptised <[D]> <at [W]> <[M]>[:CR:] wil give you what you want. You could even create a role of building if you wished. Since I already have all people into my database and all the baptisms entered (147 so far) Unless I misunderstand your directions... I now have to create an "imaginary friend" St. Georg Church and then go back into each baptism and add him as a witness. Yes, creating a role of "Building" would save the sentence too... Will try on ten of the baptisms.. and try to print... let you know how that goes. Anyone else have any suggestions?

All the people on a census. The owners of a building. The members of a church/organisation. The holder of a particular office or title. Limited only by your imagination. You'd probably get one per page but could send to a Word Processor and eliminate the page breaks...just a thought....

You'd probably get one per page but could send to a Word Processor and eliminate the page breaks...just a thought.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But how am I to include all the folks of the Focus Group to create ONE Individual Narrative? I feel I would need to choose each one, individually create a IN and then go on to the next person, create the IN for that one... and so on... I just went to look at my TMG and the only choice to create an IN is for the current person or ONE person whom you enter the ID # for. If I wanted to print all of the family that is buried at one of our local cemeteries back home (it is a huge cemetery) this would be an overwhelming task, editing all those burials to add an imaginery friend as a witness named "St George cemetery"
GenerationGoneBy 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 I'd do an individual narrative and include the tags I wanted (use this alot to get a cemetery listing). Use just the baptismal tag, or include the BMDB tags for each person as well. Send to word processor, delete page breaks, and you have your report.

If in the IN report you make the Focus Group the subject of the report you should get an individual narrative for each person in the Focus Group all in one report. As I said there would probably be a page break between each individual report. Run the report to a Word Processor and delete the page breaks. May not be exactly what you want but is the only thing I can think of that would be close...

If not, just create a temp flag, set it based on the focus group people and then use that flag to print the report.
MsScarlet1957 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 (edited) What I'm suggesting is running the IN for everyone in the Focus Group. If in the IN report you make the Focus Group the subject of the report you should get an individual narrative for each person in the Focus Group all in one report. (snip) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ALRIGHTY! I had my hubby help me on this one... We did get the subject to the focus group (DUH I had a check mark in the box for "Use the current focus person" thus the other options were greyed out!) Then we sent it to a Word Document, which did NOT make a separate page for each person. in the options for the report under Miscellaneous, I did NOT put a check mark under "Other", "Page break before each subject" and VOILA it is just perfect! Thanks to all who helped me out on this project! Now if someone could just help me with my other problem of how to get the exhibits for home addresses that are linked from within the Master Place list to print in Narrative reports.... GenerationGoneBy 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 If you attach the exhibits to the TAG, they will print. You might want to try that.
