  1. Printing visual chart to pdf

Ed, You may find Robin Lamacraft's article on my website helpful. It's at https://tmg.reigelridge.com/Robin-saving.htm As an alternative, another user told me he used the printing service of https://ancestryprinting.com/ and was happy with the results. They can print directly from the VCF file.
  2. Abbreviation

Well, maybe I cheated. <g> I gave a presentation to the RUG last month on Journal options, so have just studied up on all of them.
  3. Abbreviation

Lee, How do you ask the report to abbreviate a country? The only option I see is to abbreviate a state or province.
  4. Thanks, Eric. I'll post a note on my webpage mentioning them. Did you have to make any special settings to keep VCF from braking the chart into 8.5 x 11 pages?
  5. Thanks for the info, Eric. I didn't know about them. I'd love to hear how it worked for you. Also, do you have to do anything special, like install a specific printer driver on your computer, to get VCF to produce the chart in the width and length you want?
  6. There is no one so far as I know that can print VCF files directly. However, there is an article by Robin Lamacraft, an expert on VCF, on my website about how to save the data in a format that commercial printers can use. It is at https://tmg.reigelridge.com/Robin-saving.htm
  7. Tag Issues

Mary, There are no standard tags that include census years in their labels. Any Census Tags you have like that are custom tags. Either you created them or you imported from another program than had them. When you say the information on those you find are different, which fields do you mean? I would expect the Sentences to differ somewhat because the information recorded on the various years differs. Where are you trying to edit the Witness Sentences? You should be able to do that on the Tag Type Definition screen, but not on individual Tags unless a Witness exists in that Tag.
  8. Tag Has Disappeared

Yes, you can have two sessions of TMG open at the same time. Just open one, then open TMG again. You can open the same Project in both, but TMG will not let you edit the same record in both at the same time.
  9. Jim is not talking about an option in Sources, but rather about the Option in Reports. The report option changes the result for all Citations in that report, regardless of the option selected in the individual Sources. Thus there is no need to make the change in each Source so long as you consistently choose the "no ibid" option in each report you use.
  10. Tag Has Disappeared

Open the Master Tag Type list. At the lower left check the box "Show deactivated tag types." If it now appears, click it then the Edit button. At the top right of the Tag Type Definition screen check the "Active" box.
  11. Link to 9.05 update

Only part of it came up as a link. The whole link is: https://tmg.reigelridge.com/new-computer-version.htm I entered it a different way, so it should work. If not you will have to copy and paste the whole thing into your browser URL window.
  12. Link to 9.05 update

Don't bother with the disk you have. It's of no value, you should throw it away. You don't need an "update," but rather the full TMG 9.05 installer. See the topic TMG9 - Final Installers at the top of the TMG 9 section of this forum for a link to download it. See my article at https://tmg.reigelridge.com/new-computer-version.htm for some tips on moving your data to the new computer after you install the program.
  13. Military Service tag type error

Yes. Open the Master Event List (Tools menu). Sort by Type of Event, then type in the Tag Type name in the Search window.
  14. Odd Errors

Trinity, I think that's a "Layout" setting, so you have to save the Layout after making that change otherwise it will be gone when you re-open.
  15. Edit menu items grayed out

Jim, John Cardinal's TMG Utility can search most fields in the database, so should be able to do what you want. https://www.johncardinal.com/tmgutil/
  16. New Error Happening

Trinity, your question has been answered several times on the TMG list.
  17. Changing tag type to another

At Events > Change Event Type.
  18. Judy, As explained when you asked this question on the TMG list last week, if it's a temporary restore to test the ability to make a restore, it doesn't matter. It only matter if you are intending to use the restore to enter new data.
  19. TMG 9.0

Ken, Is your issue how to get reports to Word from TMG 7? If so, Jim's reply tells you how to deal with that. Or is your issue how to do a direct import from TMG to Legacy?
  20. "Variable Go Term Not found" msg in windows 11

Yes, when you move a project to a new system, all the old paths follow. Did you read the article that Michael recommended?
  21. Source Reminders

If Center the Current Window doesn't reveal the reminder, I suggest making the main TMG window full screen, then position the Citation window way off to the side before trying to open the Reminder so it will not be covered by the Citation window. I've found hidden windows to behave normally after being found this way and clicking on them to bring them to the front.
  22. As I suggested before, the marriage does not appear in any of the family or tree views. What shows up is the fact that they are recorded as parents of a child.
  23. The Tree view doesn't actually show marriages. The Family view will show the date and place of a marriage event. Is that what you see? Otherwise, both the Family view and Tree view will show a "spouse" if they have children together.
  24. Beetle, The auto-relationship tag is not recalculated automatically, because of the time it would take to do that all the time. One way to do that is to go to Preferences>Current Project Option > Other and un-check the Automatic "Relation" Tag, click Apply, then re-check that box.
