  1. Can't find missing exhibits

Carl, Send me the __I.dbf and __I.fpt files (letter 'eye') and I'll see if I can identify the two exhibit records. You can contact me by email by clicking on the link below... Jim Byram
  2. TMG 9 program problem

This is a common Windows problem. You run some application (TMG, in this case) and the installer for some other application (Roxio, in this case) cranks up. With TMG, it's usually the Microsoft Office installer that gets involved. Go to Programs and Features and run repair for the Roxio application. If that's not available, uninstall and reinstall the Roxio application.
  3. Probable corrupted project

John, Saw your post on the mail list earlier. The description sounds like real-time corruption by a cloud, backup or antivirus/anti-malware program. I'll write David to request the current project to examine. Jim
  4. Can't find missing exhibits

To what are the exhibits linked? Citations? Use the appropriate list report to make a list of the items that the exhibits are linked to. Then open each and check the exhibit.
  5. Can't find missing exhibits

Check the 'Last VFI.log' in the folder with the project files.
  6. How do I stop filtering out non-primary tags?

In the Tag Box, right-click and clear the 'Primary events' filter under the Filter for... selections. You could also deal with this using the Tag Box options in Preferences.
  7. Error Message re Makespeed

Error messages are dynamic and are only meaningful to the developers. I've never seen this one. Run the TMG v9.05 UK installer and select [Repair]. That will fix any missing or damaged program components.
  8. Error Message re Makespeed

I don't get the error. Run Optimize, Validate File Integrity, Optimize and then Reindex. Run Maintenance / Performance Recommendations again and see if you still get the error.
  9. Bad ID Number

Filling unused ID#s really serves no purpose. I never change ID#s since they are the base of my filing system. The next ID# should be the last used plus 1. You don't use F2 to get that. You did change the high ID# to the next available before the gap? Have you tried reindexing? Something really bad happened to get the REF_ID numbers to jump like that. If it were me, I'd revert to the last backup before this happened. You could send me your project to check before you do anything (a backup with project files, accents and filters only). You can contact me by email by clicking on the link below... Jim Byram
  10. The selected output destination is "Printer"? To make sure that the program installation is not damaged, run the TMG v9.05 installer and select [Repair].
  11. Relationship not connecting

What version of TMG are you using? I'm not sure whether her father should show a relationship. Refresh the auto-relationship tag and see what happens. File / Preferences / Current Project Options / Other / click the [Refresh relationships] button. The Relation tag needs to be refreshed anytime that new people are added to the data set.
  12. John Cardinal posted about the release of T2G on TMG-L. *** TMG to GEDCOM v1.00 is now available. *** TMG to GEDCOM (T2G) is a faster, better GEDCOM export for TMG. It includes hundreds of features to customize a GEDCOM export including features custom-designed to work with popular GEDCOM readers like Ancestry.com. TMG to GEDCOM will only work with TMG databases written by TMG v9.04 or v9.05. TMG to GEDCOM allows export templates and, initially, has templates available for Ancestry.com (public and private), GENviewer, Gramps. and Legacy. You can save your own templates for custom configurations. See the following URL for more information about TMG to GEDCOM (T2G): https://tmgtogedcom.com/en/tgn001.htm
  13. Sources Slow to Load

I tried all of the different ways that you list and it never took more than 1-2 seconds to open the source list. Your project has 1438 sources.
  14. Sources Slow to Load

Pam, Opening the master source list in in the project we were working on took only a couple of seconds on my system. Jim
  15. Cannot Open project in TMG 9

Hopefully, you're not using real-time sync or backup on your project (DropBox, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.). I've never seen "[conflicted] added by TMG to a data file filename so I'm assuming that some external application is responsible for this. You need to back up your project files every work session. Rebooting your system might allow a backup to be restored. I can examine your project to see if it can be recovered. Having a data file deleted by some external application is not rare and happens. That's why frequent backups are critical. You can contact me by email by clicking on the link below... Jim Byram
  16. Yes. However, you want to update to v8.08, the last version of TMG8. There was a very important database design change made in TMG v8.05 and you don't want to be running an earlier version. You can find the download link for the correct TMG v8.08 version here... http://www.rootsusers.org/install.html
  17. Using the 'run as administrator' option to fix the issue suggests that this was a permissions issue. It does not occur on my system. I don't understand the last line of your accent since the accents only apply when a person is displayed. Project Explorer / Contains the Person. What's the need for this accent line? I also see that the Project Explorer is not linked to other windows and that means that you can't navigate between people using the Project Explorer. Your comments suggest that the accents are calculated when the project is opened rather than on the fly when a person is displayed. However, I see nothing related to accents in the open tables in the temp folder when your project with the accents is open and that suggests that the accents are calculated on the fly when the person is selected.
  18. I have no idea why some problem with accents would cause the open dialog problem; however, if it's fixed, it's fixed.
  19. I can check the project. I need a backup with project files, accents and filters only. You can contact me by email by clicking on the link below... Jim Byram
  20. Show non-primary events in Tag Box

Right-click in the Tag Box and make sure that Filter for... / Primary events is not selected. If you are using a custom layout, when primary events are not being filtered for, save the layout.
  21. It's not clear whether you are having a program or a project issue. Try running the TMG v9.05 installer and selecting [Repair].
  22. Form-based reports output as .DOC files are incompatible with Word 2013 and later. These reports must be output as .RTF files to be used with Word.
  23. Microsoft Installation Missing File

You'll notice that is not a TMG installer error. "Microsoft Office Single Image 2010" Try explicitly running the TMG installer as administrator. Right-click on the TMG installer file and select 'Run as administrator'.
