  1. Events not listed in proper order

You're welcome, Norm. I'm glad you found the problem, but I don't have a clue how the sort dates became confused.
  2. Events not listed in proper order

Norm, Tags are listed by Sort Date order, not by Date order. Have you looked at the Sort Dates to see what they say? You have to be in advanced data entry mode to see the Sort Dates. If you are not, you can turn on the Advanced mode from Preferences > Program Options > Data Entry.
  3. Transfer of flags to customized tags

You're welcome, Bjørn. That's a very powerful tool. It takes a bit of fiddling, but it can save a lot of work.
  4. Transfer of flags to customized tags

TMG has no method for transferring information in Flags to a Tag. It is possible to do that with John Cardinal's TMG Utility, but the process is pretty involved. You use the Events > Add Events function in TMG Utility. That function requires that you create at text file that contains the ID# of each person for whom you want to add a Tag, and information about what is to go into each field of the Tags. Help for TMG Utility describes the format of this file. You can create the basics of the file by using the List of People report in TMG, and carefully selecting the output to include the ID# of each person and the value of the Flag that you want to transfer, and sending the report to a word processor. You would then need to add additional data to the file to meet the formatting requirements. You can do that with the Search and Replace function of the word processor. Finally, after you have the file correctly formated, save it as a text file. When you use TMG Utility make sure you have a good backup of your project and view the result in the "Log only" mode before you proceed, because it is possible to do major damage to your Project.
  5. How do I print a chart now?

Rich, Are you looking to download TMG 8 or TMG 9? Since you posted in the TMG 8 forum I'm assuming that's the last version you have purchased. As Jim says, you can download the installers for either version and burn a CD. But TMG 9 won't do you any good unless you have a serial number, which WG no long sells. But there is a dealer in Belgum who last I heard had some left.
  6. UNLOCK KEY

Have you tried Harry, as Jim suggested?
  7. Registration Key to unlock TMG v9

Stephanie, Even though the TMG operation is officially shut down, I understand that requests for recovered serial numbers are being answered. Write to support@whollygenes.com and be patient - the response may not be a prompt as in the past.
  8. Installation of V7 for windows 8.1

You cannot copy the program itself from one computer to another - this is true for any modern Windows program. You must install it with the installer file. If you found the installer on your old computer you can copy it to the new computer and then run it to install the program. I'm confused. This is on the new computer? If so, you didn't copy the program, but actually installed it. Is that what you did? You can try sending an email to support@whollygenes.com - reports are that they have been responding to such requests, though it may take a while. Be aware that if your new system runs a 64-Bit version of Windows, as it most likely does, that the report writer in TMG 7 will not produce reports to a word processor. Yes, TMG 8 was released 3 or 4 years ago, and TMG 9 was released about a year ago. However sales of TMG was discontinued last Sept. and official support was discontinued at the end of last year. There are some copies of TMG 9 serial numbers available at last report from a dealer in Belgium. His address is Harry.Goegebeur@genea.be
  9. Sort Date in Tags

Ken, Remember that the column settings, such as the "both" setting, are part of your Layout. In order for that setting to be in effect next time you start TMG you have to save a changed layout. See my article Working with Layouts if you aren't familiar with doing that.
  10. Ver 7 will create forms

The installer for TMG 9 is available on this website in the "Update Center" - see Resources in the first section. However the only place I know where serial numbers are available is from Harry Goegebeur, a former beta tester and dealer in Belgium. His email address is: Harry.Goegebeur@genea.be
  11. Ver 7 will create forms

Rod, TMG 7 will not create reports to a word processor on a 64-bit system. That was the reason for total re-write of the report system in TMG8. Other than having a copy of TMG on a 32-bit system for reports, there are some workarounds that others may be able to suggest that can help, but I don't recall them as I never found them satisfactory and didn't use them.
  12. Capitalize first letter of pronoun

Joe, Nothing's wrong. No variable recognize periods in the middle of the Sentence Structure as being the end of one grammatical sentence - it could just as well indicate an abbreviation. You must insert capitalization in mid-Sentence Structure manually: [:CR:][:CR:][RF:Child] was born . . . Then add a Female Sentence: [:CR:][:CR:][RF:Child] was born . . . Or, reword the Sentence to the output of the variable doesn't need to be capitalized, although I don't see an easy way to do that in this case.
  13. I'd only add to what Michael says that if the CD from WG is for a version earlier than 9.05 it is of little value to you or anyone else. You need to have a copy of the latest installer - for TMG 9.05 - as has been said here many times. It's available for download now, but nobody knows how long that will last.
  14. Dale, Hopefully someone else can help you with the two issues you are having with 9.05 - I've not seen nor heard of them. Reports of several users testing early releases of Windows 10 have said they have had no problem running TMG 9. You should be prepared for future installations by having a copy of the installer and your serial number in a safe place. You may find my article on The Future for TMG Users useful in this regard.
  15. ADT, The most common reasons for failure to unlock successfully are: 1. Use of a code for the wrong version (doesn't sound like your case). 2. Entering the code by typing instead of copy and paste, and making an error. 3. Entering a new email address rather than the one used at the time the code was created - the code is keyed to the original email address.
  16. The issue has nothing to do with 32-bit and 64-bit. The problem is you don't Restore a dataset from TMG 4 to TMG 5 or later. Instead you have to Import it. Use File > Import rather than File > Restore.
  17. Trouble unlocking version 9

The usual reasons for an unlock code to be rejected are: The code for a different version of TMG. It is entered manually instead of by cutting and pasting and there is an error in entering it. The email address or name is entered is not the one used when the code was provided. Could any of these apply?
  18. Make your own. There is nothing special about the CDs formerly available from Wholly Genes. In fact your own is better because you should create a text file with your email address and serial number in it. Burn both that and the installer you download to the same CD so you will have the two essential elements together if you need to re-install.
  19. Trouble unlocking version 9

Shane, Are you entering the name and email address as it appears in the material you got with the CD?
  20. Diane, Sure. Burn your own. And be sure to create a text file with your serial number in it and put it on the same CD.
  21. MJ, The installer can be downloaded from the Upgrade Center on this site. I understand that unlock codes for prior customers are being provided by the company, if you write to support@whollygenes.com. It may take a while for a response as the company is essentially not operational, but they have responded to other customers. But no telling how long that may continue, so be sure to keep a copy when you get it someplace safe.
  22. Serial Number does not seem to work in v9

No, you don't need separate serial numbers. I'd suggest that either you made an error entering it (did you copy and paste it?) or you entered your name and email address differently on the laptop.
  23. I have to agree with John. I've been using TMG 9 since it was released (actually before - I was a beta tester). I've found no stability issues with 9.05, and there are a number of new features since v7 that I find worthwhile, including the one John mentioned.
  24. Corrupted projects?

Where is it you see this? And what does "appended to the name of other projects" mean?
  25. I moved this topic to a more suitable section.
