How do I indicate a person never married?

Recommended Posts

New user and am unable to find an answer to this question in the documentation:

How does one indicate that a person never married, or can it be done in TMG?

Thanks.

Well,

The main way is just not to create a marriage for them.

I created two new people named *** Unmarried with the surname ***.

I created a new role in the marriage tag called UNMARRIED. Now when I know for a fact that someone never married, I create a marriage tag for them, use the UNMARRIED Role, and then marry them to *** Unmarried ***. This way it will show in the sibling and children views as them being unmarried.

You can add a Note tag, and enter something like "never married" in the Memo field. If you use the advanced data entry mode, you can enter a sort date to position that tag whereever you want it.

Or, you could enter a Anecdote tag, and enter something like "He never married" in the Memo field. Since the date does not print in enter a date in Anecdote tags, you can put a date in the date field to position that tag if you want, and it will not appear in reports.

Or, you can create a custom "NeverMarried" tag, with a suitable sentence. That's what I do.

I just use Died Tag and put a note in the memo field "unmarried"

And you might yet get married. . .Like John, I also put "unmarried" or "without issue" in the memo of the died tag.
